I had a prior experience with TKR with a 5 day stay in hospital and my expectations were 100% mobility and zero pain. I achieved this in a reasonable amount of time and was happy with the results. 15 years later, time for the other knee. Did my homework, worked with a trainer to have strong legs and knees and Dr. Aguiar used robotics, a different technique this time. I walked the same day, went home, took a rest and started home PT the next day. A week later at the PT center. Results were immediate, the angle was achieved before the scheduled date, the knee responded well and pain was manageable. The different techniques made this experience less traumatic: wound care, home care, time away from work was short, and pain was reduced by half. The different techniques did it, the previous TKR used a 'best fit solution' whereas this time it was all about my knee, my case, my measurements. I was happy with Dr. Aguiar's explanations and his staff was wonderful, especially the surgery staff.

The doctor listened closely to what I had to say. I am only in my seventh week after total knee replacement, but he was really encouraging and approving of my goal to reach 130 degrees in knee bend. (Even though it might take longer than eight weeks post surgery.) I liked the fact that the surgery utilized a robot. Precise shaving of the bones and accurate prosthesis size was reassuring. Also the robot prevents cutting through things that shouldn’t be cut through. Ortho Virginia is a class act. The 24/7 on-call post surgery line was really helpful to me, and I didn’t hesitate to use it. Not all organizations have such a service.

Went to the doctor referred to me by my PC. I went there for my OA left knee. He asked me questions and listened to what I said and my problems. He showed me the comparison between the two knees. He gave me options that I can act on he didn’t asked me to do the knee replacement yet. I had injection on my knee and will do PT first. Doctor his assistant and the receptionist were all pleasant and easy to communicate with.

Dr. Aguiar performed my second robotic assisted total knee replacement a few months ago. The recovery was just as good as for the first knee replacement. It’s wonderful to be free of the knee pain! I definitely recommend Dr. Aguiar and the robotic assisted procedure.

I was referred by my physician to Dr Aguiar he is very accurate and spot on with the problem after he examined he said you don’t need me you need to see me when it surgery I was very stressed out the past few weeks with my knee pain and couldn’t get down the stairs That one word made me at ease He gave me some anti inflammatory and physical therapy and said that should be it I went to him thinking it would major problem he gave a complete analysis what was causing the knee pain So happy I visited Dr Aguiar Would refer to all my friends

Dr Aguiar is one of the best orthopedic doctors in the area. Extremely knowledgeable and very kind. I highly recommend him.

Dr Aguiar repaired a complex tear of the anterior horn of my lateral meniscus / right knee when another orthopedic Dr said it could not be repaired w/ expectancy of a successful / satisfactory outcome. Dr Aguiar immediately explained the pros and cons of this surgery and what I should expect post a surgical procedure/ repair never doubting he could help me to a better place w/ pain and some age related osteoarthritis !! Dr. Aguiar was exceptional, his PA was responsive, the entire team is strong. He was very reassuring about the results I could expect, and has been as good of an experience as I could expect. Once you get past those first few weeks, which he clearly noted, it has moved right along. Do the daily exercises, and slowly. Take a day off when needed, the knee deserves the rest. But do them. You will see the results.

Thanks to Dr. Aguiar’s expert surgical abilities, I had a very successful total knee replacement surgery. I am so pleased with the results of this surgery. Deterioration of part of the bone was a concern to Dr. Aguiar, so he gave special attention to that area. He didn’t just depend on the robot to do the work. Many many friends, especially those who had had knee surgery but didn’t use the robotic process, were amazed at my quick recovery. At age 76 and no family to take care of me, I stayed overnight in the hospital. I definitely needed people to lift my leg from bed to sitting and back to bed for the first few days. I figured out how to move that “log of a leg” using a soft belt tucked under the arch of my foot pulling with my hands to get in and out of bed. It surprised me that I could and did walk day one at home with the help of a walker. That first week I thought I'd never be the same but exercise worked! Thanks, Dr. Aguiar for your you tube video! I couldn’t give Dr Aguiar and the robotic knee replacement I had at OrthoVirginia a higher review. Dr Aguiar is an excellent surgeon and having the surgery done robotically is the only way to go. Knee replacement is a big deal and having confidence in the surgeon is critical. When I need to get my other knee replaced, I’m definitely calling OrthoVirginia!

Well organized in terms of getting X-ray and diagnosis all in one painless visit (and that includes the shot). Staff was helpful too.

Dr Aguiar is not only a very skilled doctor but his bedside manner is wonderful. Many times with orthopedic surgeons you have to deal with physicians that have great skills, but you have to accept that there bedside manner is non existent. Dr Aguiar is the total package. He will help you with your issues and make you feel that he understands the pain and fear you’re going through. Orthopedic surgery is very brutal and scary. Having someone who understands what each patient is dealing with makes a world of difference. Just one visit and you will understand what it is like to have someone very skilled that is also compassionate. Best of luck with your issues- constant pain is exhausting. Dr Aguiar understands that.

Dr Aguilar was vey thorough and offered several alternatives for my issue.

Dr Aguiar did a total knee replacement on me. He and all the staff at OrthoVirginia were professional and friendly. The surgery was out-patient and I was headed home 5 1/2 hours after arriving. All follow-up care was great. Dr Aguiar always explained things clearly and never rushed me. Doctor and technicians always saw me at my appointment time without waiting in reception or the exam room. I highly recommend Dr Aguiar and OrthoVirginia for their care.

Dr Aguiar was wonderful and very professional pre and post surgery. He did great in dealing with pain management. I will be undergoing another replacement on my left knee and look forward to the procedure.

I am a 69 year old woman who never had any previous surgery making the prospect of knee replacement quite frightening. I did EXTENSIVE research to find the best doctor locally that used robotic assisted surgery. I did a LOT of pre-surgery PT to strengthen the leg muscles and followed my PT's advice for exercises that I did DAILY at home post surgery. Don't just do the post-op PT when at the PT appointment! Thanks to the combination of a great surgeon and diligent PT I was driving at 4 weeks, back to pickleball and biking at 10 weeks. If you choose Dr. Aguiar you will be in expert hands!

My mother saw Dr. Aguiar for years and now I’m seeing him. He was my surgeon for my total right knee replacement surgery and he did a fantastic job! He’s the absolute best! He’s’ professional, kind, informative, and caring! I highly recommend him to everyone!
