Rude and unintelligent
Ignore the positive review. Their experience is DEFINITELY not normal. This guy sucks and has no business being a psychiatrist. He’s deMASTERs of jacksh!t.

unwilling to listen, did not provide adequate care
Dr. DeMasters went out of his way to treat me unfairly during my stay at LewisGale. During a private interaction while unlocking 'his' office door, he muttered something intended to upset me, and during a consultation where my family was present he cut me short while I was explaining my situation, and wouldn't even hear me out. I don't think I've ever been treated this unfairly by a doctor before in my life, and I always treated other patients and staff during my in-patient stays since the onset of my symptoms with utmost respect, so it's not like it was in retribution for something. Right doctor? What he did was unethical, and although I cannot prove it at the moment, hopefully I will be able to some day.

Pleasantly surprised
Very professional, quick and to the point. Clearly knows his clients and cares about his patients. I would recommend him to everyone in the area. He is a wonderful doctor and an asset to Lewis Gale.Ignore the crazy bad reviews by other people. Their experience is not the normal.

No compassion. Could care less about his patients. Long list of complaints. I will just say, the doctor I saw after this quack, said I had a real.good case for a lawsuit.

I had this psychiatrist for a week while inpatient He knew nothing about me except 24 hours of notes from nurses and evaluator none of which knew me either, and a print out from my pharmacy confirming medication currently taking. This doctor after 15 min " assessment" with me discontinued 3 of my medications and lowered dose of another , without even considering contacting my long time psychiatrist to discuss. TRAUMATIC, physical, mental, and emotional. Home now, back to my meds, n better.
