Dr Aitkin was my doctor for three or four years. I changed doctors because she had me wear a blood pressure monitor for a week and never called me to admit that I didn’t have high blood pressure. My blood pressure was high because she was always LATE. I wasted so many hours of sick leave waiting for her to show up. She was routinely forty five minutes to an hour late.

Dr. Aitken is an engaged and good listener. She tries very hard to understand her patients and to help them. She treated my Mother until her death and I was so impressed with her thoughtful, reassuring and kind manner that I decided to go to her myself. She is quite good at finding specialists and getting you an appointment when needed.

Latham Internal Medicine and Dr Akin in particular should be ashamed or themselves. one, telling my mother NOT to get another Covid19 test when she said she was exposed and has symptoms and was sure she had it. Well guess what, turns out she does. Real nice concern for public safety. Secondly to deny refilling my mothers very important medication because they want a call in appointment on Tuesday when she is out tomorrow (because she couldn't make her appointment this week because she had said Covid19). Disgusting.

Yes, I would recommend Dr. Aitken. I feel she is compassionate and LISTENS. If there are alternative treatments, she explains and never hesitates to order any necessary special testing. I followed her from the Slingerlands practice to her current Latham location.

I find Dr. Aitken to be a thoughtful, caring and extremely competent physician in ensuring that no stone remained unturned in finding out what was causing my belly pain. I strongly recommend her as a primary care physician and am surprised that anyone would have a problem with her care and treatment recommendations.

I STRONGLY do NOT recommend this practice or Dr. Aitken to patients w/ complex medical issues, especially if they are elderly. This practice lacks Knowledge, compassion and professionalism. After treating my 80yr old mom for 2yrs for ongoing complex medical conditions, Dr. Aiken wrote her a letter giving her 30 days notice to find a new doctor and practice. No advance call her/ staff was given and my mom had just been discharged from the hospital w/ sepsis. As her caregiver...this is cruel.

Policy of drug testing patients is a violation of trust. I was a 55 year old 20 year old Adderall user and was informed of drug testing policy. I was not tested but my children were. Policy seems to be profiling young people. Misleads patients by claiming it is a law. Signed contract is common place, a 7 panel screening is not. Left practice and Dr Aitken as I question what drives this Doctor's health care decisions, insurance rules or medical competence, caring and trust.

Dr. Aitken and her staff are not helpful nor understanding of their patients long term struggles with illness. I have been talked down to by her nursing staff and they do not work well with other providers request for treatments. I am in the process of finding a new provider for my daughter and myself. I do not recommend this doctor or practice.
