Dr. Giang Lam, MD

Dr Lam is very personable and is a great listener. I trust his medical decisions explicitly.

He's an amazing Dr. I had an urgent change in my health condition and he made room for me to be seen. He examined me and told me what his findings were and gave me options for my care, ordered tests, mri for my back. Gave me a follow up appointment to review my blood and mri and ordered new medication. I left his office feeling like I understood what he said and we had a plan of treatment. 5 stars for this great man.

I've seen him at least five times and every visit he has insinuated that I'm either stupid or a liar. For example, the very first visit I told him that amphetamine and dextroamphetamine are used off-label for depression, and he informed me that it isn't and said I misunderstood why it was prescribed to me. He accused me of stopping my medications without telling my other doctor after I said the other doctor still prescribed it in case I needed it. He fights not to give me referrals or tests, which I then have to get later from specialists. He also insists that his instant diagnoses for my chronic health problems are correct, based on no evidence, and dismisses my statements that specialists have concluded those diagnoses are unlikely. He'll ignore me when I say I've already seen a particular doctor and refer me to the SAME person, wasting so much time. This is infuriating because I've had chronic health problems for over ten years. At least he is qualified to prescribe fluticasone.

Reviewed my meds. Talked about the CT. Scan that I had. He is very caring.

Always takes time to listen and not rush me through my appointments; is open to discussing alternative treatments when something is not working for me and follows up when changes are made to my Plan of care.

I have been a patient for six - seven years. I have recently moved to Oakland and still commute to Modesto to see Dr. Lam.

Everyone here is very nice and friendly. Made me feel comfortable from the time I walked in. Dr. Lam was very nice. He is easy to talk to and seems like a take action kind of doctor. Got me back on my Rx and answered my questions with no problem. I felt comfortable and satisfied with my visit.

Writing for a family member - senior with type 2 diabetes. Dr. Lam is extremely thorough and engaging. He doesn't just go down the prescribed check-in checklist. Tested balance, asked follow up questions in a conversation manner when patient response was brief. Truly tries to know his patients. Recommended exercises and demonstrated for patient. Had patient attempt certain moves for him as a metric of range and current abilities. Knows diabetes impacts on other areas of health and what essentials are needed for monitoring. Absolutely tops!! If you have diabetes and need a primary care physician, this is your doctor.

Dr. Lam took the time to discuss with my son the summer experiences and encouraged him all while ensuring all his health concerns were addressed. He listened.
