Am ready for a new doctor
I think the doctor is good, have been seeing her for several years but now every other appt they want you to see a PA. Have done that several times and each time it didnt work out well, changed something that I wonder if the doctor would. Have said I will only see the doctor and still have appts made with PA's. Some other problems too, I am ready to find another doctor because of how the office is run

Not every patient is the same.
Waited in the room for over half an hour, I guess that was included in the summary of visit as part of the time that was spent with me, because it was charted as an hour.... most certainly was not. No one verified my name spelling, even though I had a driver's license, insurance card, and credit card all with my name on it. It was still entered incorrect and my chart was created and orders issued with the incorrect spelling of my name . I over paid , no one answers the phone to refund my over payment. I don't think you can treat every patient the same, but apparently Dr. De Silva disagrees. I have choices where to get my care and I choose not to return to this practice!

Poor office Practices, Sub-Standard Care
My initial appointment at this office went well. I’ve had symptoms of autoimmune disease since I was a child. I had photos +complete vital signs to show her. She began to treat me for fibromyalgia + autoimmune disease. Every appointment thereafter was a hassle. The receptionist is extremely condescending and treats me like a child, I can NEVER get paperwork/meds/call back on time (if at all), and I’m being charged over $200 after late fees at every appt. I pay in full at time of service. Whenever I try to dispute this, I am treated poorly. It feels like I am not taken seriously in this office in regards to my conditions, there is no empathy or understanding at all. It feels like every time I mention pain meds (never requested opiates/controlled substances), I’m treated as if Im drug seeking. The appointments are scheduled without regard to pt availabilty. They tell you which day and time to show up.

Great New Patient Appointment!
My first appoint with Dr. DeSilva was amazing. I found her to be very thorough and knowledgeable as well as kind. Her staff is so sweet and helpful. I feel fortunate to be a patient at that practice!

Horrible experience
Office staff never return calls, Dr. don't return calls. I called the on call DR in pain and received a call back 72 hours later from an office staff and they asked how I was doing. I had blood work completed 3 weeks ago, I called 3 times asking for them to review, no one has review to date. I called one day at 8am and was told that an office staff would call me back, I called back at 3pm since no one had call me and they said the person that they told me was going to call me back was out of the office that day. I asked why i was told that they would call me back, the front desk girl said she did not know she was out of the office. they had not forward my message to the DR, nothing was done, they were not planning on calling me back. Worst experience with a Dr. ever.

Dr. DeSilva is an exceptionally competent doctor in every way. She has treated me for 15+ years and is always very compassionate. She is the best rheumatologist I've seen in the 31 years I've had fibromyalgia. She always reviews my medication at every appointment & makes sure that I have adequate refills of medicine so that I'm not in pain from my illness & injuries over the years. She treats my environmental & food allergies as well as my asthma which has been very well controlled under her care. She refers for labs, imaging studies, etc as appropriate. She spends a lot of time with me at every visit. There is a wait at times, but it has never been longer than 40 minutes in my experience. She has a lovely sense of humor & educates you in a very caring manner. She is responsive on the patient portal & has a dr on call. The office is very clean & the staff is friendly. Her medical assistant, Dijanna, is thorough, sweet & a long-time employee. Jennifer at the front desk is wonderful too.

Dra Desilva is an excellent professional, my last visit was on May 8, 2020, virtually. I later received a call from the nurse to schedule an appointment with Dr. August 12, 2020. I went at the scheduled time and date and the front desk staff tells me I am not on schedule. She schedules a new appointment for me on September 3, 2020. When I arrive at the office she tells me that my GP did not authorize the visit and that they could not notify me because my cellphone area code is "787" (Puerto Rico) . I explain that my GP changed it as of June 1, 2020. As soon as I received the card in June, I went to the office and gave all the information to an assistant and she took my card from medical insurance and entered the information (???). and today they do not attend to me because they did not have the correct information in the system. Whose incopetence is it? 9/3/2020

A decent doctor. The front office is a circus. They are exceedingly incompetent at the basics of their jobs and make getting anything done an absolute hassle. I have to harass them to get orders faxed (and sometimes they say they've done it when they clearly haven't). Don't expect them to return your calls or messages, or even answer the phones the majority of the time. I've shown up to follow-up appointments to talk about results of tests that have been ordered only to have the doctor check for the results midway through the appointment and realize they weren't there. It took me a week to get my results - I picked them up myself from the imaging center. If you want to spend any time with your doctor, come prepared with a list of specific and detailed questions. She isn't forthcoming with information and will gladly leave after giving you a bare-bones explanation of what's going on. The wait times, both to get an appointment and to see a doctor, are ridiculous.

I am a patient of Dr Desilva. She is caring knowledgeable and tells you like it is,good bad or indifferent. She is understanding. She takes time to listen to your problems and helps figure out a way to help you. I tell everyone about her.

Dr. DeSilva is extremely compassionate & spends as much time with you as you need. I've seen her for 12 years now. Yes, there is a wait, but she is worth it!! She is triple board certified: internal medicine, rheumatology, and asthma/allergy/immunology. Not many drs have her background & expertise. I see her for multiple chronic rheumatologic illnesses, allergy & asthma. I've referred 4 people to her & everyone loved her too. She is a great dr in so many ways & is responsive on patient portal.

Always wait over an hour for my appointment. I arrive 5 minutes early for my last appointment only to find a note saying they were in a staff meeting. They kept all the patients waiting over 25 minutes as their meeting ran long. They could have opted not to schedule patients but instead they kept us all waiting. Her service is perfunctory and she lacks social skills.

I have been trying to speak someone about making an appointment, but you have to leave a message and are told that they will get back to you in a day or two. when you don't feel well this no good. but when you leave they always say call anytime we are here for you. I don't feel that they are.

I have been seeing Dr. Desilva for 15 years. The wait in the office is long BUT she is a very caring and intellegent Dr. Yes, she does have to type in the information you provide on a computer but she is able to listen and do that at the same time. As with anything in life, you have to take the good (great Dr.) with the bad (the wait). She spends as much time as needed with you so sometimes it is going to be a wait. Bring something to do and don't over schedule yourself. She is worth it.
