Not even one star, but had to fill in.
I saw Dr. Kunkle for about 7 years. I had insurance that paid everything, and it seemed that patient visits took priority over patient needs. His office is ran in fear for the staff and the patients. I still see pain management after 11 more years, and never knew how nice it was to have a Dr that listened and advocated for you on a regular visit. I honestly cannot in any form recommend this provider. I actually feared writing this for years due to being local and having to need him at some point. Your own doctor should not make you, or others feel that way. And as an FYI, I left Phelps Health completely because of him. In fact, if money talks, then the hospital may take notice that my insurance has paid out over $3,000,000 in the past 5 years since I left Phelps Health; after getting deathly sick due to something Dr. Kunkle implanted in me.

He can actually seem barbaric for his lack of communication and the sudden noises he makes at the nurses. For 2 years it was “we’ll try this next if that doesn’t work…..” Patricia French, his assistant in his office wrote in my file that I would more than likely abuse the pain meds. I have never requested an increase in any of the meds they have given me in 2 years. Phelps Health you can do better than this.

I have been seeing this doctor since 2004 and everything was fine until the last year or so. I have a implanted pain pump and get some oral medication for break through pain. In January I asked for a increase in my pump since I was experiencing increased pain. I was denied a increase along with my oral medication reduced. Today I was told that he would not give any more oral medication. So where is this doctor's hippocratic oath of doing no harm? My increased pain is doing me harm and he doesn't want to help me.

I'm Glenn Kunkel, MD, and I joined Phelps Health in October 1997. I see patients in the Phelps Health Pain Management Center.

I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.
