Dr. Golkoo Hosseini, MD

Dr. Hosseini is an excellent psychiatry doctor. She takes time to listen to you very carefully and explains with clarity and detail how your brain works, and what every medicine you have been on, or the ones are now prescribed will affect you. She asks you everything you are dealing with, not only psychiatric issues, so her approach is holistic. She remembers what you have said in previous visits and follows with questions. She pays attention to every little detail. In sum, in my 20 years being on and off dealing with mental illness, I have never encountered before such a knowledgeable, empathic and caring doctor.

Many issues...horrible impression.1. She was checking her phone as I was telling her about my symptoms and crying. I felt like she had more important things to attend to when she was busy looking at her phone.2. Was told she'd send me a survey to complete regarding my suspected PTSD that would help expedite our next appointment with the results. She never sent the survey. When you're already suffering and you turn to a psychiatrist for help and they let you down too, it doesn't help. Made me worse.3. I had been on numerous antidepressants in the past that didn't work. She asked me which of the past ones I wanted to go back on. (I had made it clear none of them worked and the one I had been on the longest didn't really make much difference after a while). I was prescribed that same ineffective antidepressant instead of being given a new one to try. I came away from the appointment with her and complete lack of follow up in sending me the survey feeling more hopeless.
