What is this, an extortion racket?
Dr. Alza's office is near my home and an in-network provider for my insurance, Blue Shield of California, and I went to see him for a routine physical. On my second visit to Dr. Alza, they asked me, without explanation, to pay my copay plus $300. When I asked why, they said my insurance had denied their claim for my physical. When I called my insurance, they said Dr. Alza's office had failed to provide documentation for my visit. Dr. Alza's office then said they would follow up, but wanted me to stay on in the office as they yelled over speakerphone at Blue Shield's provider services representative, who kept repeating that she could only talk to them, not me, and that this was a dispute between them and the insurance company to which I was not a party. They said they'd file an appeal, failed to provide the right information in the appeal, and now months later they've threatened to send *me* to collections over this $300. Just breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.

The first time I went to see Dr. Alza I was in a very bad shape, healthwise. From the first minute I meet him, I knew right away that I was in the perfect hands. His patience and care for my wellbeing were like no other doctor in this city can provide me. He takes the time to talk to you but, most important, to listen to you. He is truly a vocational doctor as are his staff. Very dedicated like not many doctors in Los Angeles.

Has been very helpful regarding my health. Spends a great deal of time answering questions and explaining treatment. Takes the time necessary, no doubt about it.
