DR. LOPES IS A GIFTED SURGEON & HUMANE PHYSICIAN !
Dr. Gustavo Lopes, D.O., F.A.C.O.S., is an exceptional physician and surgeon whose encyclopedic knowledge, brilliant mind, wide-ranging experience, surgical skills, expertise, and humane and compassionate care make him a gleaming prodigy in his subspecialties of bariatric surgery and robotic laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery.I recently had the fortune to receive surgical treatment from Dr. Lopes. As a seasoned physician myself, I have high standards for medical professionals, and Dr. Lopes exceeded every expectation during my recent surgery. He was thorough, patient, and empathetic from the initial consultation through post-operative follow-ups. Dr. Lopes ensured I was informed and comfortable throughout the entire process, answering my many questions with clarity, kindness, and empathic reassurance. The surgery was a total success, and my recovery was smooth and pain-free without the need for any opiate analgesics. At 14 days post-op, the incisional scars are invisible.

Not enough words to express my gratitude
Dr Lopes is absolutely amazing! He’s kind, listens, caring, very professional, and works miracles. I had robotic surgery for a huge hiatal hernia that caused my organs to move up into my chest, it was an emergency situation and I thank God that he was the one that did the surgery.

Amazing Surgeon
Dr. Lopes truly stands out in every aspect of his practice, from his bedside manner and medical expertise to his surgical skills. When it comes to communicating with patients, he embodies true professionalism and kindness. I recently underwent a complex hernia operation performed robotically by him, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Amazing Surgeon
Dr. Lopes is amazing. I saw him due to a sciatic hernia (a hernia that was pressing on my sciatic nerve). He told me that this was a rare condition, that he has never preformed surgery on that particular hernia and even if surgery is done my pain may not be relieved. After five months of research, he came up with a plan on how to approach it and asked if I felt confident in his ability or if I wanted to see another surgeon. I stated I felt quite comfortable with him. I am thrilled with the outcome. The outpatient procedure was done and I was totally up and about after three days. The best part is there is no more pain. Thank you, Dr. Lopes, for your all you have done. I highly recommend him if you need general surgery.

Did my surgery, probably the rudest Dr I’ve ever dealt with. Absolutely no bed side manner and seemed annoyed when asked questions. He should not be in the medical field at all.

Went in for a herniated umbilical hernia. Dr. Lopes might be good at his practice but he lacks in patient/dr. skills. Was rude and degrading. Would not recommend him to anyone.

I think Dr. Lopes needs a refresher on communication with patients. He did not perform my hernia or esophageal repair but was assigned to my follow-up care. I could have no water or ice for 20 days and existed on TPN and antibiotics. i became very thirsty. When I heard the radiologist say there was no leak from the esophagus I started water and ice since I would be seeing him the next day. He was very displeased that I had not awaited his blessing. I don't think he is very understanding. I would not recommend him.

My kudos to Dr. Lopes and his "crew" performing my hernia repair on November 17th. He was clear, concise about long and short term options offering me, the patient final say. The, from the time I entered the hospital Admissions to the time my friend picked me up; I was treated with dignity, respect and when appropriate, a little humor to pass the time. Although I cannot remember the many names on the team, especially after "Goddess" put me under, I want to thank them all collectively, along with Doctor Lopes and Martin County Hospital North.

Had hernia and was refereed to him through my primary . Its was an obvious hernia but was misdiagnosed by the doctor he replaced . i went in for a second visit and he did not even perform a exam and agreed with the previous doctors misdiagnosis and wasn't concerned with what i described as "debilitating pain" and told me to "go get a tummy tuck ". I had even more severe abdominal pain after that and tried to go back and was refused because he " doesn't do cosmetic surgery". So back to my primary to order CT Scan and can you guess what the diagnosis was !? I have a "midline ventral abdominal hernia " I have suffered a year of pain and suffering over the complete lack of care and professionalism through him and his office and would advise all patients as hard as it is to get a second opinion from ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL at a DIFFERENT OFFICE NOT AFFILIATED . Medical "professionals" like this are ruining the healthcare in this country and only we can stop it !

For my first visit to Dr. Lopes I was very nervous and his staff is wonderful. He's as nice as he can be. He made me feel very much at ease and I'm so blessed that Dr. Kumar sent me to Dr. Lopes. His personality was very good and he sat and listened to me and let me ask all my questions and did not make me feel like he was in a hurry to get out to his next patient.
