Dr. Habtamu Handro is great
Dr. Handro is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to and encouraging. He's been my physician for several years and he is the doctor of former physician who retired.

Prolonged mismanagement
Both of my parents saw Handro for years. Eventually, after mismanaging my mother's complicated medical care, she found another GP. Mom had complained that he didn't take her seriously, which was risky given her real medical issues. My father kept going out of familiarity. Handro's office erroneously billed for a covered vaccines and after disputing for months, they paid it. Eventually, the office discovered THEIR error, and when Dad requested a refund, they said that they couldn't, but offered to apply it as a credit to future service. They never applied it. The final straw came when he paid a $206 bill for an office visit, and then received another $401 bill a few months later. The office explained that the first bill was a facility fee, and the second a physician fee. Since he only has Medicare and a supplemental, he is out of pocket. After looking up comparable codes for reference, these fees are exorbitant as the range is typically $25-$100. Do not recommend.

Dr. Handro is a truly outstanding doctor in medical knowledge, friendliness, and concern for patient. He listens carefully the patient, thoroughly examines the physical symptoms, and orders the necessary labs. He's great at explaining his analysis, prognosis, and treatment. Dr Handro is very friendly, listens well and addresses my concerns. I would highly recommend him. I’ve been a patient for years. The only negative I can say is I wish prescriptions were called in more quickly.

I wouldn’t let this doctor treat me even for a runny nose. He treated me like an inconvenience and only read the medical assistants notes. Never looked up at me, came near me or looked at the injury I had. Several hours later I was in the emergency room. And the office had the audacity to charge me for an office visit, I reported to my insurance company as fraud, filed a complaint w McLaren Patient Advocate. He is not in this profession for the patients. He’s a quack and should not be allowed to practice medicine.

Dr. Handro is my physician at MMP. I have had lifelong medical issues and have seen many physicians in my 64 years. Dr. Hando is by far the best physician I've seen in all those years. I trust his medical care and advice and he genuinely cares about patients. Easily 5 stars. Howard K.

He explains clearly; he does not rush you (which largely explains why he is late for appointments: that is, he will talk with patients until their questions are answered); he is likeable and does not talk down to you; overall, I have concluded he is an excellent doctor and a good man. I trust him.

I've been very happy with Dr. Handro. He has been more attentive and thorough with his care than previous doctors. Wait times are usually minimal, when at the office. Staff is very helpful.

I would NEVER recommend Dr. Handro to anyone I know. He is a flippant, arrogant jerk! He mis-diagnosed my father with Alzheimer's and, worst of all, he never told us the diagnosis. He also missed an incredibly low heart beat on my dad -- 35 beats per minute! I kept pointing out how swollen Dad's legs were, and he just dismissed it as no big deal. I changed Dad to a new doctor who immediately sent Dad to the Emergency Room. The entire Mid-Michigan Physicians practice is cold and uncaring.
