I have gone to this Dr. for over 15 years. His office is now only concerned with money and not the patient. They see you for a physical and bill you for 2 office visits. Be sure to get disclosure of bill before visit. An established patient office visit is $574.00. Be afraid.

Dr. Makin found out what was wrong with me.
My appointment with Dr. Makin was worth every penny I spent. He took me as a walk in the day I called, when I couldn’t get an appointment with my regular doctor and I didn’t want to go to the emergency. I have been having stomach issues for several years, ended up in ER several times have had multiple tests, very thankful to Dr. Makin for figuring out my gallbladder is the issue. I am not sure why it was not checked previously but an abdominal ultrasound was the one test never given to me and it revealed the issue. I am so thankful, by some chance I got that appointment with Dr. Makin!

Dr. Makin was my doctor for over twelve years and then he dumped me without consulting with me the reasons he did what he did. I am diabetic plus other medical issues and he apparently did not care. I suspect it was because he thought I was losing my Blue Cross coverage and would be on Medicare. His actions were just when I was retiring. ( I actually have both coverages at this time.)

Terrible experience. On my 4th visit, the front desk informed me that the office was now only billing insurance as a courtesy. Um, that is your job. And it was now going to be $300+ for a visit. Dr. Makin is a Horrible man. he was immediately angry because I hadn't returned for a follow-up - which was why I was there. When I corrected him, he yelled at me. I started crying, and he yelled for security, at first through the door. In front of the nurses and other patients. I was so embarrassed.

Dr. Makin was my doctor in Alaska, Alaska and I have since moved to California. I can't tell you how much I miss his level of care. He is a wonderful doctor and I always felt that I was in good hands. He was VERY thorough and actually cared. You can't go wrong with him.

I was mislead in the billing. Dr. Makin ordered very extensive tests, was supposed to be covered by my two Insurances, at the end they bill me a high amount with the excuse that Medicare insurance was not accepted, however when I inquired about Medicare, Dr. Makin office told me that they Lab work was covered by Medicare.

Dr. Makin is a competent physician sadly lacking in ethics. If you want to be treated as a source of revenue rather than as a patient, Dr. Makin is your guy! Seriously, the billing practices of this office are beyond the pale. Be prepared to be nickel and dimed to death and for every possible (and ultimately unnecessary) procedure and for every conceivable test to be ordered. If it pads the bill, count on Dr. Makin to do it. CHOOSE ANOTHER PROVIDER!

While Dr. Makin himself was informed and courteous, the billing/insurance process is a scam. Insurance lady was not in/no one was able to let me know they were not contracted with my insurance (despite my insurance website saying they were) and they were willing to run up $1800 in charges that they then charged to my credit card without my affirmation. I believe they also overcharge for bloodwork. Do not go here unless you want to waste money.

The staff is friendly and always willing to get me in when I am having a medical crisis. I have never had to wait for an appointment. Dr Makin is knowledgeable, he refers to outside providers appropriately when needed. He is well respected in the local medical community. He listens to my concerns and explains things in terms a non medical persons can understand. He has a great sense of humor and bedside manner. I respect him for his caring personality, his knowledge, & as a colleague.
