He is a HORIBLE DOCTOR!!!
My husband had his knee replaced by him. Besides his operation being delayed for hours, never received a call and he left the hospital without reaching out to us. Found out about his status after 8PM. Following day went to see him. The nurse left him in the bathroom by himself and he fell, while there were signs all around 'Fall Risk'. Smires didn't even see him, he sent his assistant. The doctor released him even though he was bleeding heavily. I had to use multiple kitchen towels on his leg - told this was normal. When he was take back to the office - Smires told told him he was using all his supplies. The visiting nurse called him and chewed him out for even releasing him. Smires was upset with us. We hardly would see Smires during the follow up. Smires made an old man feel like it was all his fault. What a Horrible doctor, he should have his practice taken away! There is no caring for the elderly, maybe he will find someone who will treat him the way he treated my husband.

Top Surgeon
Dr. Smires replaced my knee and I could not have had a better surgeon. He is exceptionally professional and knowledgeable. As well, he is available when you need him. My new knee is amazing. I would give him my highest recommendation.

Do NOT use
I had knee replacement surgery by Dr. Harvey Smires in November of 2020. I did everything I was told to do…went to physical therapy 3 times a week, went to all my follow up appts, etc. I started having issues with my knee and leg in March and saw Dr. Smires in April. He took x rays, saw nothing wrong with any bones and implied it was all in my head. He didn’t care that I was in pain everyday and that it might be a soft tissue issue (muscles, ligaments, etc). I never went back to him after that. I then went to another orthopedic surgeon who determined that the knee replacement was too loose and causing other issues with my leg as my gait was off. He said this would not correct itself and would only get worse over time. So the new surgeon Dr. Robert Goldman did a knee revision in March of 2022. He told me that the plate that had been installed was 4 mm too small and that the knee cap had not adhered well so he had to scrape off the cement and re- attach it. I have most (1/2)

This past Fall, I had a catastrophic injury to my knee that rarely happens to adults. I was so lucky to have a priority appointment with Dr. Smires. His skill and surgical expertise was exactly what was needed. He placed 3 screws in my knee and he was able to stabilize it. I felt very lucky to have found this doctor.

Decided on my diagnosis 3 seconds into my visit. Even after I explained more fully, there was little feedback. Had me do an xray, gave me a PT form with instructions that contradicted the symptoms I was having and couldn't be bothered to spend any time to discuss it. In the 20 minutes I was at the office, he spent at most 2 minutes with me. Staff was very friendly and also helpful in getting my xray so I could go to another doctor.
