Dr. Heather Baker, MD

We saw Dr. Baker for 12 years. Not now. At our last visit, both kids had appointments scheduled, 15 minutes apart. We waited in a long receptionist line which put our check-in a few minutes late for one child & still early for the other. Back in the room, we waited over an HOUR & 45 MINUTES. No doctor. Finally, I couldn’t wait any longer. I had to be back at work fast. I went to the desk & politely explained. 'We waited patiently from 2:15 to 4:00, but I need to reschedule. I'm a theatre teacher & my students have a showcase for parents in only 30 minutes, at 4:30.' I was kind & pointed out I wasn't leaving in protest, but truly had no choice. Both receptionist & office manager said, 'If you leave, you will no longer be patients of Dr. Baker”. I asked the manager to ask the doctor. I said she's been my teens' doctor since they were babies. The manager came back & said that Dr. Baker said if we left, she wouldn't ever us again. I left for work & no longer recommend their office.

My daughter had her baby unexpectedly early, she hadn't found a Pediatrician yet. Choose Dr Baker because of her reviews. Dr Baker enter the room, did not introduce herself, nor ask my daughter's name (mother of baby), was less then gentle when checking babies hips, and acted as if they were just another number. So So Sad. Dr Baker has no idea about my daughter, the delivery, or the baby. Quick run through and out the door she went. Being a mothers of 4 myself, with my youngest being born with Transposition of the great arteries, many months and many surgeries, I learned a lot more then I ever wanted to know. What was most important is trust and faith in your doctor to know your child. Dr Heather Baker was not the Doctor we prayed for.

Dr. Baker has been the pediatrician for Kasey and Callan for the past 5 years. She cares deeply for the wellbeing of them and often memorizes their family history and is always open to our concerns. Her ability to relate her four kids to ours always gives us a sense of normalcy when having any anxiety. She has always allowed us ample time to explain our concerns and we just love her.

Do not take your kids here. She refused basic testing for both of my children and both of them have chronic issues that are being followed by Children's Mercy. She retaliated on us for self referring to Children's Mercy and lied to her office manager saying that my kids were not vaccinated. When my youngest was screaming in pain, she refused to do any testing and actually had her nurse leave a message on my voicemail saying that some babies just scream, and that's probably just his temperament

By far the best DR we have ever had, will not go to anyone else. I have a special needs son and she is awesome with him.
