Epilepsy Specialist
Dr. Rutherford really took the time to listen to me and take my concerns seriously. My case was complicated and unlike my previous neurologist, she was proactive and made a real effort to seek answers. Immediately after diagnosing me, she contacted my psychiatrist to come up with a treatment plan and coordinate care. She took the time to explain my condition to me in great detail and patiently answered all of my and my family’s questions. I highly recommend Dr. Rutherford.

From the beginning of switching to this doctor, my experience was terrible. I live over an hour away from the clinic and can't drive due to my condition. My boyfriend took off of work to take me to my appointment over an hour away, just to be told once we get there that she was not seeing patients that day. This happened a few times. I was pregnant and she put me on a medicine that put my baby at a higher risk for birth defects, telling me he was not at risk. I asked her if the medicine she put me on was safe to breastfeed on...she forgot to find out inbetween appointments and looked it up right in front of me! She told me it was harmless to be on while breastfeeding. That turned out to be a lie, it was life threatening to my baby. I called her office to get her to switch my meds, she was on vacation and her staff refused to try to help me. She never called me back, knowing I was off all meds. Her and her staff do not care about your well-being. Completely unprofessional.

From the first appointment, I got the feeling that Dr. Rutherford didn't really care. You can just tell. Then it took weeks for her to call in my prescription. I called several times inquiring as to the status of my prescription, and was treated rudely by her staff. Today at my appointment, on a stormy day in New Orleans , I'm told they will have to re-schedule me because, and only because, I was 12 minutes late. Don't waste your time with this doctor or the Tulane Neuroscience Center.

Dr Rutherford did not do any test on my son. She agreed he had something going on and I need to take him locally to doctors near my home. I drove 3 hours for her to refuse to help my son. The area I live in wants to give you a pill and treat symptoms rather than treat the cause. I would not recommend Dr Rutherford to treat anyone unless someone else diagnosed the patient and she just needed to follow up.
