He's your doctor. A smiley face is not necessary.
Dr. Ax was detailed in his work with me. He made sure that my medical information was accurate and up to date. He manner was exactly what I want from a doctor: clear communication, questioning, and honest. Recently I saw him for extreme knee pain. His compassion was meaningful for me. His plan of action worked and I am on the mend. Don't shy away from this doctor because he can be very direct, or some has found his bedside manner to not be all sugar and roses. He's a doctor, not a best friend.

Dismissed serious concerns
Rudeness aside, he did not provide any actual care. Blood work, blood pressure, scary chest pain, family history - was all waved off as anxiety and my need to exercise and eat better. No testing was recommended or offered, and even argued with me about the need for it until I brought up the recommendations of the multiple physicians in my family. Northwestern has a good reputation and this man should not be here, or anywhere face-to-face patient care is involved.

I went in to Dr. Axe when my primary physician was out of office when I was experiencing severe abdominal pain. I explained I had a stomach bug that week but started having severe pain that day. He told me to take some tylenol and put a heating pad on my stomach. I went home and did as he told and was still in severe pain. I ended up going to the ER and they diagnosed me with appendicitis and I was in surgery 2 hours later.
