Condescending, rude, and overly unhelpful
Would score zero stars if able…Was incredibly rude and condescending to both myself and my daughter. Cut me off while speaking and made my child cry as she tried to explain her pain and how it was impacting her life. Complete waste of time and was emotionally taxing to see. The only positive was that his office staff was amazing and kind the entire time. He should stick with the classroom and stay away from actively seeing patients.

Terrible
My daughter had a spine/neck injury due to flipping at a trampoline park. We were scheduled to see him 12 days after her injury. She was sent home in a c collar and told to keep it on at all times until she seen Dr. Place. Well we get to the visit and he made her feel uncomfortable and her anxiety was high. He admitted her into the children’s hospital for more testing due to inability to walk. When he came to see her in the hospital two days later he was totally rude, discounted her feelings and pain. Stated that she should be moving on her own. We have stairs in our home and she is a fall risk due to tremors she is having. He basically said she was unsafe to return home but could go to school as she doesn’t have a broken bone. This will be the last time we come to this hospital to see him. His bedside manner is terrible. Not only that but he was not pleasant or even interested in how my child was feeling.

I will never take my child to see Dr. Place again.
I recently brought my son to see Dr. Howard Place for the first and last time. I will never take any of my children to see him again. I was confused by his explanation of my son’s diagnosis so I asked for clarification. He became frustrated and raised his voice at me. He wouldn’t clarify the specifics for my son’s at-home care when I asked. At one point he even walked out of the room in anger. I know that everyone has a bad day sometimes, but this was unlike any other experience I’ve had with a doctor. I do not recommend him at all.

It has been nearly 14 yrs since Dr. Place did spinal reconstruction surgery on me for severe scoliosis (at age 54) and I have done very well. He and his staff are awesome. I am so grateful to him and feel that he gave me my life back. He takes time to know you as a person. I have recommended him to others.

I can't thank Dr. Place enough for what he did
I broke my neck in March of 1993. I was moved to Fitzsimons Army Medical Center where I was treated by Dr. Place. He fused my c4-c6 vertebrate and I was put in a medical hold unit. After the surgery I went to work in his office and found him to be very kind and professional. It's now almost 30 years later and I am thankful for what he did for me and how I was treated. Despite my neck injury, I've lived a very active life and it wouldn't have been possible without his skill and knowledge. Thank you Dr. Place for all you have done. I would highly recommend Dr. Place to anyone.

I have been seeing Dr. Place ever since I was six. It has been 12 years of treatment and I will say there is no one else I would trust with my back. He is very nice and kind and has always made me feel better even in a scary place. He did my back surgery at age thirteen and I thought I was not going to be able to do much. He not only placed my two rods and eighteen screws but also helped me live life like I use to. To this day I feel no pain and I am very happy with the service I got. Dr. Place is very trustworthy and I highly recommend him for any of you spinal needs. I am very thankful that he has been my doctor for twelve years and I couldn’t ask for anything better than his care.

I have Kyphoscoliosis and he ordered a full thorax sna of my spine. I asked him about a treatment that does not use rods but bolts to re-align the vertegrea. His attitude about my request was deweaning and made me feel belittled. He didn't believe what I was saying and didn't get the chance to show what I found on several websites. He did want to see me in 6 months to see if there was a change, He aid in the meantime, stand up straighter. He then left the exam room. total time in the room was less than ten minutes. I felt he could really give a crap about my situation.

Horrible experience. Talked in circles and gave no explanations or answers. Was dismissive of issues. If I asked a question, he just repeated the same non-explanation. I have been to many orthopedic surgeons as I have had lifelong back problems and multiple surgeries. Worst doctor I have ever spoken with. Other staff was extremely nice and accommodating: however, that does not make up for the doctor. Would never recommend him to anyone.
