My husband is alive today only and only thanks to doctor Hugo. My husband had an extremely rare blood disease that normally people his young age do not get. I absolutely trusted doctor Higo because besides his incredible experience in these disorders, he actually also has a fantastic gut feeling and intuitively figures out various possible hidden causes of side-effects of the medications, etc. I never doubted his experience ever and my husband is a living proof that even the most desperate cases actually get a chance. At the beginning of our journey we were 2 months away from death, 10 years later, my husband is alive and helping me raising our son. Yes, he still has some side effects of the medications and of the treatments, and some health issues etc. but considering his original diagnosis and what he went through, he is doing great. Many thanks also to the rest of the medical staff at MSKCC incl. the cleaning ladies, and the kitchen staff!!!

As previously mentioned in a review Dr Castro can seem a bit brash, while just friendliness varies from visit to visit, his knowledge and trustworthiness is strong and I feel confident in his care. His team communication is excellent and always available to answer questions and help with scheduling when needed. I would recommend Dr Castro and MSK to anyone needing transplant care.

He is my husband's transplant doctor. He is old fashioned and very knowledgeable. He may appear to be a bit rough around the edges but he is genuine about his patient care and experienced in the xplant world. My husband & I prefer knowledge, competence, & behind the scene advocacy - we dont care much for small talk & fluff. His team knows what they are doing and are ALWAYS available.
