Incredible surgeon that changed my life!
I'm an online research fanatic, so when it came to selecting the right cervical spine surgeon, I researched for the best spine surgeons in the west, and then narrowed them down 3 that I met with. From the first consultation with Dr. Bae, he exemplified the knowledge and expertise the others didn't. He's very personable and the only one that was confident he could repair 1 of my cervical discs from the posterior side before two weeks later removing and replaced 2 destroyed cervical disc's from the front.I left the surgery center at 1pm the day of surgery with only a soft cervical collar on. My scars are non-detectable and I have full-range of motion. I'm extremely active and work out hard at the age of 61. After only a few months I regained full use of my right arm and hand that had slowly deteriorated. I'm 3.5 years post surgery & couldn't be happier. I seriously cannot tell I ever had surgery other than now everything works correctly. There's no one better than Dr. Bae!

Fantastic Spine Surgeon
After numerous epidurals and PT I came to the realization that my only remaining option to resolve my back pain was to consult a spine surgeon. After extensive research and review, Dr. Hyun Bae jumped to the top of my list. What a great find! Dr. Bae was warm, friendly, down to earth and exuded a tremendous amount of confidence. After reviewing my MRI he indicated that he could help me, but it would involve surgery. No problem, as that was what I expected. He explained what he would do while pointing that out on my MRI. He used the words, ‘easy peasy” to describe what needed to be done. Easy for him to say, but in reality it was a minimally invasive procedure. I felt totally comfortable with him. I might add that every person whom I can in contact with at Cedars-Sinai or the Spine Institute was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. I cannot recommend Dr. Bae highly enough. Thank you, Dr. Bae.

A Waste of My Time
I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bae for a consultation regarding possible back surgery. Instead of seeing Dr. Bae when I arrived, he had me see another doctor whom I suspected he was training. After spending maybe 20 minutes with him, I was told that he would be consulting with Dr. Bae and that then Dr. Bae would come in. When Dr. Bae came in, he spent less than 5 minutes with me, telling me that I would not need surgery before he left the room. He did not review the results of my MRI with me, or really say much of anything other than that my back looked fine. It felt like pretty much a total waste of time. I would never recommend Dr. Bae to anyone in need of a consultation for back surgery.

Despite seeing three previous physicians, Dr. Bae was the only doctor who actually listened to me explain my symptoms and correctly diagnosed the source in my neck. He also recognized how much pain I was in, which was such a relief after being treated as a whining, drug-seeking person by other physicians. My surgery went extremely well, and just as he stated, I am free of neck pain after recovery from the C1C2 fusion. Dr Bae's staff was polite, efficient, and always friendly; his nurse practitioner Lisa was incredibly responsive to post-operative questions and Dr Kamrava has been a godsend in managing pain. Everyone in the office was exceptional, and although I would not want to repeat this experience, I couldn't have asked for a better outcome or a more qualified staff. As an RN with 43 years of healthcare experience, I believe I can say that with confidence. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Bae, Dr Kamrava or their staff.

I had surgery with Dr. Bae and it literally ruined my life. I didn’t want to write this review and I was actually afraid to for a long time because I did not want to be on Dr. Bae‘s bad side but since he has now told me there is nothing he can do for me going forward I feel like I am obligated to leave this review for other people to read. I was severely injured in a car accident at the age of 24. I saw Dr. Bae for the next 2 to 3 years because I was suffering from incredibly severe back pain which radiated around the side of my torso. After seeing Dr. Bae periodically and trying some pain management procedures, Dr. Bae suggested a fusion surgery at the age of 27. Throughout my time seeing Dr. Bae I was deathly afraid because my condition was getting worse and worse and my quality of life was quickly deteriorating as a result. I was a very high-level athlete who was also attending grad school and working at the same time. I was afraid of the pain management procedures

I suffered from severe back pain for about 20 years due to a high-grade spondylolisthesis. I finally went to Dr Bae who recommended lower back fusion. It was a complex surgery and a complete success. I have not had any pain since the operation over three years ago. It is important to know that it lasts! Everything about the process was very supportive and such high-quality care. Dr Bae is an excellent surgeon and very kind and patient. I call him the miracle worker. He changed my life! I will always be very grateful to him.

There are no words to describe the amazing experience I had. He had to fix previously failed fusions, and was the ONLY surgeon who diagnosed that arthritis caused migraine type headaches 24/7, and that previous fusions had failed. My issues were so severe that I required a complete cervical fusion C1-T2. Dr. Bae was the ultimate expert. He was so kind, compassionate, and honest with me. I would recommend him HANDS DOWN for any condition. My years of suffering are over. HE IS THE BEST!

After seeing spine surgeons for 2 years in Las Vegas and getting nowhere i went to see Dr. Bae and he was the 1st to explain my condition to me while showing me images from my scans. He was blunt about the surgery: very complicated requiring 2 different operations 2 weeks apart and a long painful recovery. I knew if I did nothing I would be in a wheelchair within a year. Dr. Bae was thoughtful and engaged and satisfied the last part of my due diligence. It was the right choice for me.

Dr. Bae performed an ILIF surgery on my back L3-L4 area in (2) months ago.. After 15 years of endless appointments with pain specialists, orthopedics, physical therapists finally I'm pain free now. Dr,Bae is a brilliant surgeon,it seems no surgery is too difficult for him and I highly recommend him. If you're looking for the best in the field give him a call

In 2004 I was losing the use of my hands and legs due to cervical discs pressing on my spinal cord. Surgery was the only option. Dr Bae did a 3 level disc fusion and gave me back my life. That was 13 years ago!! I’m 69 now and except for some understandable neck stiffness I’m fine. His office staff were always great and I had absolute confidence in Dr Bae. He doesn’t chat much but then he doesn’t have to does he. The proof is in the pudding as they say.
