Condescending
Dr. Bach presents himself as a kind man. He is. Good demeanor. However, if you are looking for someone who is curious about your experience and willing to listen, I implore you to save your time and look somewhere else. He will add things to your health record and not address it in a follow-up. He will incorrectly say levels from a blood test are high when they are, in fact, low. He will stick to his hypothesis of what he THINKS is going on despite a blood test showing the opposite. He seems to enjoy the art of denouncing any description or personal theories you may have of your symptoms. If you are experiencing dizziness, he will recommend working out at high intensity for at least 150 minutes weekly. He unconsciously brings his bias into appointments and will be laser-focused on his perspective. His appointment notes show his condescending nature and how he does not believe you. One good thing I will say is he has helped when a referral is needed. You just have to work for it.

My experience was not good. Went in with diarrhea and told him I had gone on the BRAT diet after hearing from a friend that it helped her. He said he was not too keen on that diet and I needed to eat meat. It seemed odd but took his advise I got worse very quickly and went back on the diet. He also told me to take a specimen and it needed to be mostly water. I could not get a specimen like that so I figured the one I took was no good. Was able to get in to see my regular Dr. And she said just get a specimen they can work with whatever you can get. She said the diet I was on (the BRAT)was good. I feel things will turn around now and I have great trust in the DR. I'm seeing. I would not recommend Dr Ian Bach at all. My husband made an appt. With him at the time I saw him and has since canceled. I would not trust him with a loved one and was happy he canceled.

Brainwashed
He literally told me the American Heart Association was trusted. Not by me and anyone with a brain! I went to see him for my low testosterone. I tested very low and told him I want to start supplements for it. He said he required a second test and wanted to reschedule in 3 months. Nobody requires 3 months for the second test. The first test took almost 2 weeks to get results. I scheduled the second test 6 weeks later and first thing he said was 'It sound like there might be new restrictions for testosterone.' then proceeded to order a generic test that gave results over night. The results were still low but I don't trust that test to begin with, he then refused to prescribe a supplement. Literally just wasted my time and made me draw blood for no reason. He doesn't listen, he's lackadaisical about everything. He should just do everyone a favor and retire... Total waste of my time and money.

What really stood out was when he told me that I'm exercising "too much", and that the American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes max / week of exercise. Not only is this inaccurate (a quick google search on the AHA website will show you), but when I mentioned that it was inaccurate he dismissed me and said I was arguing with science and the experts doing the studies. Additionally, he seemed annoyed that I did not want to jump on statins right away as a young and fit 31 year old with slightly higher LDL markers (done via 3rd party lab testing). Didn't seem to have any interest in working with me on approaching it from a nutritional/exercise standpoint other than saying I shouldn't eat eggs more than once a week. Finally, he said his job was to prescribe medications which seems odd to me, as the job of a doctor should instead be to provide care (in my opinion). Prescribing meds and providing care are not necessarily the same.

Doesn’t Listen
I went to Dr. Back for 3 years with back pain that he couldn’t explain, so he basically accused me of drug seeking and referred me to a sports therapist for acupuncture. A year into that, I went to the ER and it turned out I needed my gallbladder removed. A nurse in my recovery out of the blue said “If you’ve ever had back pain it will probably go away now” and she was right. I went back to him and told him about it and he was like “Oh yeah…”. That was it, I spent 4 years of my life in pain and instead of acknowledging that he just brushed it off. My insurance didn’t cover that acupuncture, I paid out of pocket for a year for a made up problem and all he could say was “Oh yeah”? Great compassion there. Very disappointed in his lack of empathy and his inability to listen to and believe his patients.

Dr Bach is the best
Choosing a new doctor is never easy and for a very long time, I avoided going to the doctor and finally decided to take better care of myself. I chose Dr Bach as my PCP and couldn't be happier. Three years later and I wouldn't want to see anyone else. Very happy.

I visited Dr Bach in regards to hand pain issues. His diagnostic examination and explanation was once again stellar. Provide good short & long term advice on what I need to do. I was able to visit their staff on a Saturday & everyone was in a good mood and professional.

This man is Rude and condescending! He should not be in patient care because he DOES NOT CARE! I will never see him as a provider again! He told me I was wasting his time, he also spoke to me like I was a child. My own 9 yr old was like WOW MOM HE WAS RUDE! Who wants care like that. He told me my time was up 15 mins! I actually received my copay back ( refunded) by the clinic manager. If you see this doctor; Run! If there was a no star rating that’s what I would choose!

Don't bother, unless you like being disrespected and talked to like a child. Absolutely condescending and rude. Surprised he is in a field of work where one must deal with PEOPLE, because he lacks the communication skills to do so effectively. Doesn't listen well, cannot answer simple questions without becoming defensive and dismissive. Clearly he needs to be in a different specialty; perhaps Coroner would bring in the type of patient he would get along with well.

My husband has him as his pcp. We came to him in May due to my husband was experiencing weakness and numbness in his legs due to a fall he had previously the month before. He took an xray and said all was fine and then said to him "Your time is up for this appointment". Would not help him any further. I immediately took him to the ER after we left his office and would you know. The ER took an MRI and bam. 2 Bulging discs pressing against his spinal cord. Dr. Bach did not want to sit and listen.

I wold NOT recommend Dr. Bach if you're looking for a good bedside manner, good communication skills, or the compassion that we all seek in our healthcare providers. He is condescending and somewhat passively aggressive. I have never in my life been name called until I encountered this doctor. This is the first time I have ever given a review of a physician, let alone a negative one. Don't put yourself through it, just move on to the next one. There are plenty of others!!
