Good Guy
Dr. Powell took time to explain everything to me about my visit. Very few doctors want to spend any time with their patients anymore.

Bogus Charges
I went in for my yearly check/blood work which is always covered at 100%. I was charged $98 for my appt. After trying REPEATEDLY to get an answer from someone at Dr Powell’s office, they finally explained to me I was charged for additional services for speaking to the doctor about my headaches during my yearly check up. Keep in mind I’m on a daily medication for migraines and have been for years so this would not be an unusual conversation to have at my check up. However, I have had zero issues and don’t even remember having this discussion even though I was charged. So be aware that unless you walk into your yearly appointment and say anything but “I’m great!” you will likely get bogus charges.

Lack of care and organization
He has only attended one appointment in three years-always an excuse. Never can get my prescriptions refilled as they have the PA as the main contact and they are always leaving. Then no one takes over to response to the pharmacy request and your meds run out. Total lacks of professionalism all around- go elsewhere if you want proper care

Polite yet condescending The whole appointment was very robotic, he typed while you talk, doesnt really look at you, and is just condescending overall. anything i would say he dismissed, he wont tell you this...but its very obvious that he doesnt think you can possibly know anything about your own body. it all felt just wrong, i left mid appointment.

Contradicts himself. Says one thing, then says another. Not consistent. Cannot make a decision. Finally left after a year of indecision and referrals to others. Nice guy but need someone that is sure of his medical decision making.

Arrogant and knows your symptoms better than you
I was providing additional information on my symptoms on multiple visits, and Dr Powell snapped at me because "the facts are saying something different to my experience." I would not recommend this doctor unless you enjoy arrogant doctors.

Does not listen to patients
If a patient provides any information about symptoms, dr Powell will become frustrated with the patient. This has happened two times. If you want a doctor who only relies on his diagnosis and doesn’t listen to any additional symptoms, this is the doctor for you. This has happened multiple times

Dr. Powell is my "go-to" doc now
Based on what was already in this system for Dr Powell - one bad review - I HAD to leave my own review. I'm a 50's guy who needed a new primary doctor in the East Cobb area (mine retired) and really just happened upon Dr. Powell, but I've been to him 3-4 times now and I think he's great. He's a combination of experienced but young enough that he's not just going through the motions. He really wants to spend the time to understand your needs. He's good at answering questions, and he's easy to talk to. All of this makes me glad I found him as my new "go-to" guy. I think anyone would do well to get Dr. Powell's care. The office and other staff are pretty good too.
