I rarely get to see Dr. Amir. I am seen by his assistants instead. My appointments rarely ever start at the stated appointment time. The staff is apathetic to my wait time. The staff is efficient in telling me I owe money.

I saw Dr Amir for my annual skin cancer checkup. Chose him because of Philadelphia Magazine review, but to my surprise and disappointment, he did not measure up to my expectations. He did 3 biopsies and 1 came back positive for squamous cell carcinoma on my forehead. I would need mohs surgery. I learned of this by letter when my biopsy results was mailed to me. I called the office to learn more about the procedure and asked for the doctor to contact me. He did not, but someone who knew nothing called me. The day of the surgery came and I needed 3 attempts to remove the growth, but Dr Amir didn't tell me how extensive it was. I would require at least 6 stitches across the top of my forehead and an antibiotic. He never discussed anything with me and preceded to order oral antibiotics. I had to intercept an office assistant to determine that this drug would not work for me. Oral antibiotics are a problem for my sensitive GI. After 3 pills I ended up in the local ER.

Never again would I see this doctor. I spent more time with his assistant than him. During the visit, the things I just reviewed with his assistant and she briefed him on, he didn't recall and she had to remind him that she just advised him. He didn't even touch my skin, which was pretty offensive, yet was able to rattle off several diagnosis codes, write two expensive prescriptions and tell me to schedule a follow up in a month. FYI, this was the Bensalem location. Weeks after my visit and the expensive claim submitted and paid, I needed an itemized bill (since they use an app based system that doesn't work outside of an iPhone) and I emailed them via the app and called the billing department at least five times. I never got a person-three days later and counting. Even after leaving repeated messages. To summarize, he's obnoxious, no bedside manner and his back office staff is a joke.

The wait time is ridiculous -- 1 1/2 hours one time and 1 3/4 hours the second time. You only actually see the doctor for about 10-15 minutes. The first time I was there he said he would do a full body scan the second time. The second time I was there he said to come back in three months for a full body scan. Not happening.
