Horrible experience
She was rude and condescending. We had issues with disability accommodations in the building and construction all the way to the office. Their billing practices and insistence on using a lab that doesn't accept medical insurance is a nightmare to untangle. It's not worth it.

Terrible Experience at Mt. Sinai Medical Center
I recently met with Dr. Forghani at her new location at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami. I was recommended by a physical therapist who had concerns about my hyper-mobility. Dr. Forghani came across as cold and condescending during my appointment. While looking over my body, she took it upon herself to point out each issue with my physique, even if it was irrelevant to the hyper-mobility issue I came in for. I've never felt so demeaned by a doctor. Even after explaining that she didn't think I had Ehlers Danlos, she still insisted that they give me 'genetic' testing for no reason whatsoever. I honestly just seems like they were trying to make some money off of me, despite the fact that she already told me I didn't have the issue I was concerned about. I ended up leaving incredibly upset and letting her assistant know that I was NOT interested in any additional testing and would not be returning to her office - period. Definitely avoid this doctor if you can!

Dr. Forghani Is a highly intelligent doctor
Telehealth
Dr. Forghani is a highly intelligent doctor. The first 2 appointments we're a little overwhelming, but only because genetics require going through all of your history, family history and is just kind of exhausting by nature, but Dr. Forghani and her staff made it as easy as possible. I've seen them about 4 times now (maybe 5). My last appointment, I wanted to go over some specific questions and clarify some of the information I had gotten and read in her report. She sat with me (telehealth) for as long as we needed to thoroughly explain everything, listen to updates I had for her, and make recommendations on what care providers I should look at based on what was found. Her report was excellent, and makes it SO easy for my doctors to clearly understand what she means, which is an invaluable thing for me. I feel at ease knowing that if I have any questions or concerns, all I have to do is reach out and will be treated with compassion, respect and non-rushed appointments.

Thorough and intelligent doctor!
Dr. Forghani is amazing. She is my favorite doctor; I’ve never met a doctor that cares more than she does. She leaves no stone unturned when determining a diagnosis—she is so thorough. She no longer works at UM; she works at Mt. Sinai now. The office staff at Mt. Sinai is a lot better about administrative stuff like scheduling, insurance concerns, etc. than UM was. If there are any concerns regarding a genetic illness, she’s the best doctor to go to—whether it’s cancer, connective tissue issues, or some other rare disease. She’s very knowledgeable about her specialty.

Full Transparency - The pro & Cons Pros- Dr Forghani is knowledgeable as a Geneticist. Cons- many and I will list them. (1) The program has little to no support staff. Meaning securing appointments are nearly impossible. Obtaining reports are also a complete nightmare. (See below) Endless calls for help are ignored. (2) Securing one's completed medical genetic reports is also nearly impossible. (My experience only) It took six months from my first visit until I received my final report. Three plus [months from the date the lab supplied the final results to Dr. Forghani. Totally inexcusable under any condition. (3) Insurance - please be forewarned that most if not all of the tests ordered are not covered. The result $20,000 plus denied by insurance and now the patients responsibility. That is with tier A Platinum level health insurance. Never was this disclosed on the front end. PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION WITH THE REPORTS ORDERED, COST INVOLVED AND MULTIPLE NEED FOR DIFFERENT LABS. (4). For no apparent reason, three different labs were used to perform the outside genetic testing. None are done in house. That would be the standard protocol at Mayo, Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, Sloane Kettering and Duke. All third-party genetic labs are FOR PROFIT and as such again you will be billed and be responsible for their cost. Unlike the contract and agreed price a hospital would accept based upon the agreement each has with the individual insurance company engaged. (5) Patient follow up- Little to none- You are left thinking what did I just do and what did I just get for $20,000 plus?? (6) Overall experience- I would highly discourage any patient from engaging with the genetic practice at UM. I found it highly upsetting and disappointing. They have had a high turnover in staff, and it's reflected in the total chaos a patient will experience. You can obtain and achieve the services of highly skilled geneticist at other world class medical institutions. My overall patient grade an "F"

Exceptional doctor! So incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. She spent a good amount of time reviewing my past medical and family history, explained possible diagnoses well, provided appropriate referrals, and ordered testing. She explained how all of the testing would work, when to come back for a follow-up, why she was referring me to specific providers, etc. I'm so lucky to have found her! She's the most competent doctor I've ever seen. She really knows her specialty and is quite thorough.

Avoid at all costs. She's not worth the visit. I went to her "Connective Tissue Disorders Clinic" with a CTD diagnosis to have particular subtypes others ruled out, and other possibilities of comorbid and/or similar disorders explored because treatment so far had failed. Her physical exam was not thorough and done with disregard (she re-injured my elbow as I told her it was in a lot of pain, then claimed my inability to move it much due to pain meant that it "wasn't hypermobile"-- it is, and has been assessed as such by very competent practitioners during exams when I was not in so much pain I couldn't move it). She asked me questions about other symptoms, and would roll her eyes at the answers. When asked about alternative diagnoses and/or treatment options, she told me to "try pilates" and left the room after I drove hours to see her. She also missed an EXTREMELY obvious co-morbid diagnosis-- a disease group that literally affects my entire family, every single family member, in her

Wow, I don't know where to start. After three years of bouncing around with numerous doctors not having a diagnosis and my condition worsening I finally found the answer to all my prayers... Dr. Forghani! She is AMAZING! Wonderful, caring, smart, resourceful, professional, sympathetic, trustworthy and knowledgeable. I really don't have enough good adjectives for her. She is THE BEST doctor and I recommend her highly, you will NEVER be disappointed with her.
