Great experience
I had a long term hand issue that had previously been treated unsuccessfully by a surgeon at HSS, and immediately re-appeared. I had a consult with Dr. Hacquebord and he was very honest and accurate about the potential outcomes. He then performed very successful surgery. The surgery, intensive PT and follow-up visits have led to no re-occurrence of the issue after 2 years. I would highly recommend him and his staff, a great experience!!

Skilled Surgeon
Dr. Hacquebord took my complex case and explained it in detail and explained the exact procedure he would be performing. He has great manners and I was very pleased with the way he handled my case. He successfully performed a very complex surgery of my brachial plexus that I am exceedingly grateful for. I would recommend him to anyone in need of an upper extremity surgeon.

So handsome! But that doesn't make him a good doctor. He was a second opinion and stated things that I knew from research and from the 1st opinion were 100% false. He gave me a shot of cortisone which had one effect--it made things worse. Again, SO HANDSOME, but that's about it

Very skilled and trustworthy surgeon
I had a torn ligament, and as a physician myself who performs critical procedures, I wanted to make sure that I received the best care to restore functionality to my hand. Dr. Hacquebord was indeed well dressed, professional and polite. He also took the time to listen to my concerns, to evaluate me thoroughly, and eventually perform a very successful reattachment procedure. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and surgical skill he demonstrated. If you need the services of a hand surgeon, I give him the highest recommendation possible.

Similar to other reviews; very nice and well-dressed, communicates kindly, but ultimately performed a surgery that left me worse off than before. Apparently there was no good reason to. It's been 3 years of increasing hand numbness and still no clear diagnosis. Since the surgery (over a year ago) I wake up every morning with a numb arm. His current recommendation is 'do whatever you want if it's tolerable, if the pain doesn't go away eventually we can explore further.' I don't know how competent he is otherwise, or if this surgery was performed correctly in the first place, but either way I'll probably regret it for the rest of my life.

Regret my surgery with Dr. Hacquebord
I saw Dr. Hacquebord a few times for my wrist and he encouraged surgery to fix it.Little did I know that not only did the procedure not work, but my wrist continued to hurt. Like the other reviews on this page have said, I felt also rushed into the surgical option. I would not recommend seeing him.

Don’t trust Dr. Hacquebord!
Don’t trust Dr. Hacquebord! I visited his office for right hand pain and he recommended and encouraged a surgery on my elbow that he said would have an easy recovery with no complications. There were complications with the surgery and I sincerely feel that I am worse off a year after the surgery than I was before. He’s a gunslinger surgeon, don’t trust him or trust his advice. I was concerned that the planned surgery would not address the correct problem and he literally told me “let’s do the surgery first and then we can test for that after.” Of course the tests after the surgery came back positive. He’s a shoot-first-measure-later surgeon and trusting him is the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. Don’t trust him!

Disappointing
Great sense of fashion, nice looking man, professional, articulate, but... This doctor is in the business of "seeing" patients, not helping them. Difficult, challenging cases need find care elsewhere. He is not your guy. Patients with complex problems requiring an experienced surgeon and a thoughtful approach to pain relief and repairs should seek care with someone else. If a surgery might pose a risk, then the appt. is over before it starts. No testing ordered. Older records weren't reviewed either. Resulting appointment notes were not very accurate and did not reflect most concerning symptoms. Wait time in the very crowded exam room was 45 min+. Exam rooms are cramped with barely enough room, and often no seating, for a patient+escort. Disappointed.

Dr Hacquebord performed surgery on my left hand in December of 2017. The problem was my hand swelling up for no apparent reason. The doctor sent me for an MRI which was inconclusive followed up by a sonogram which showed the injury but was also not very clear. The doctor suggested that we give it some time since there was not a lot of pain associated with the injury. We gave it 6 months and finally operated with a successful outcome. He was awesome and the hand is better than ever, Great Doctor

Really nice and good looking guy, followed up nicely with me after surgery. I'm sure he's a great doctor, but he really encouraged a hand surgery that I should not have had. I should have been encouraged to truly explore PT for a while instead, as I am left with a hand and wrist that functions less than before surgery, simply because I needed rest, not to be cut into. I think many of the NYU doctors tend to jump to surgery just for the sake of doing surgery, and I'm not a fan of that approach.
