Dr. Adamo. I found to be rude, dismissive, does not make eye contact or even look at you. If you ask a question he is seething abusive in response. For example. The patient is broken will alway's be broken and is a waste of his (Dr. Adamo) time. He is verbally abusive. Psychologically abusive. One even could leave the appointment feeling horrible. He has referred to himself as Mr. Perfect. Well if Dr. James Adamo does not allow question's. Concern's. Expression. I think he does not even view patients as being viable human being's. Dr. Adamo is angry, hostile quick to take offense. Read the review's

Amazing knowledge of meds
Dr Adamo first saw my intellectually impaired sister while she was hospitalized. His success with her meds and behavioral issues led us to follow him into private practice. She was probably one of his most challenging patients, yet he turned her life around. Today she could not be happier and continues to see him 13 years later.

Contributes to depression/anxiety!
Dr. is very cold and uncaring. Told me I didn’t want to get well. In less than 20 minutes on first (and only) visit, before shuffling me off to others, diagnosed my entire life. Sent letter to my PCP contradicting what he told me. Refuses to provide support/records for disability claims to social security. Some staff not very nice. Not sure what titles are/were, but basically they’re just adjusting meds, but now on third person in less than 3 months. First 2 just “gone” but no call to reschedule last time. I happened to call with a question and was told, oh yeah, we need to schedule you with someone else, she’s no longer here. Not going back again!

He was very condescending & called me a demeaning name in front of the entire waiting room. I’d never go back to this practice solely because of this ‘doctor’.

Thought it was me
I saw his partner for years but he passed away. Dr Adamo was helpful for about 9 months until it became apparent I'm treatment resistant to most meds and alternate treatments and now i am being shuffled to a junior associate because??? Prescribed me meds that specifically state I should not take due to prior medical issues. Condescending that I follow some 75% rule when I can't even get out of bed, I must get 7 hours of sleep but I have insomnia so how does that work?? I really thought it was me until I read some of these other reviews. I will be trying to find someone else who has more than 20 minutes for me, will look at me and not the computer and TRY to help find alternatives as I'm now almost suicidal and not just depressed- which I was not really suicidal before these past few months of feeling I'm a worthless hindrance. Seems like a $ factory place, very sad a professional works this way with patients who need compassion and help.

Needs to learn how to talk to sick people
Has no bedside manner. Rude. Says mean things to elderly patients. Don’t recommend. If you speak to all your patients like this, maybe it’s time for a new profession.

Very disappointing and it seems I am not alone
Not Good! impossible to speak with any of his staff. They are all simply RUDE. The phones are never answered. Emails are ignored. and The voice mail recording is disturbingly rude and weird. Everyone's voice mail is like: "don't leave a message on my number... don't contact us..." ... SERIOUSLY! is a patient supposed to do especially if they don't respond to emails. I am so disappointed. And so busy that I can't go through the headache of finding someone new. And every time I have to reach out about my appointments, and my prescription. and then the pharmacy. Such a headache.

Those I am supposed to consider family. Are verbally, psychologically. And have been in an instance physically abusive. They respect nothing. They cause disturbance and disruption wherever they go. Pathological liars. They are enough to wear away anyone’s sanity. No I would not recommend them to anyone. Friends, I keep no friends. Also even if I did that’s a conflict to my therapy and trust with my doctor. Doctor adamo is a wonderful psychiatrist. I am greatful to doctor adamo.

Of all the doctors I have seen of any specialty, Dr. Adamo is the most condescending, unprofessional, and arrogant. He shows no concern or empathy for patients. If you dare question him or provide an opinion, he responds venomously. He not only was belligerent on two occasions, but also is berating in his comments to patient. I think he needs his own psychiatric evaluation. Unpredictable and unwarranted behavior.

I'd give a zero star response, if possible. This doctor does NOT like to have his authority (on any of the subjects that came up) questioned. He was condescending, rude, judgemental and I would not recommend this doctor to ANYONE. He made wildly inaccurate assumptions about myself, my spouse and my marriage after only about 30 minutes in his office. He became confrontational when I got up to walk out. I have never felt worse after seeking help from a mental health professional.

Do not choose Dr. Adamo for your doctor. If you get him at Harbor Oaks do not keep him for your outpatient doctor. I wasted a year of my life with him. He did not do regular lithium levels. I became toxic and very sick. He is uncaring. He is condescending. He makes you feel like a number not a patient. Do not waste your time with this doctor. I think he is narcissistic.

You go to see a doctor with expectations that he will help you with your ailments. WRONG! He is very rude, he treats patients like he is inferior. He abruptly rushes you out of his office and his staff are some of the rudest people I have ever met. This man needs a shrink to help him through his own issues and then maybe he would understand what mental illness is!!!

Has no compassion and does not take the time to talk. If you disagree he talks you down. Discharges you for no reason without a referral and will not negotiate with you for his abrupt discharge. His staff is very unprofessional and have never had a bit of care about you when they place you on hold after at least 10 minutes.

The office is a prescription mill. 5-10 minutes appointments, little discussion of what underlying issues are, just what meds might work. Reschedules appointments at the last moment. The lobby is packed as they cycle patients through to docs throughout the office.
