Dr. James Christopher, MD

Dr. Christopher came highly recommended by our GP. I had gallbladder surgery. He explained everything very well and really took his time to answer questions. The surgery went great and the recovery wasn’t too long or hard. The aftercare was really good too. He is a very personable doctor. I highly recommend him too!

I was admitted to the hospital and needed unplanned surgery. Dr Christopher came highly recommended by his coworkers (friends of our family). After meeting him and hearing his plan for the procedure, I became relaxed and looking forward to resolution. His explanations were clear and well thought out, he was very patient with this patient!

For me to say I love this doctor may seem weird but, I have had may doctors and surgeons in my 70 years. There have been a very few that I can say I’ve loved. He is straight forward but kind. Even draws pics on a dry erase board to show where your problem is and his intended approach to fix it. He treats me like I know my own body. We do argue at times but he listens. Over the last 3 years, he appears to have become with my underlying condition (spina bifida and how it does or does not effect the current issue He is now treating an abscess on my left amputation stump. Over the last 2 years , he has treated Peristomal hernias, and last year dealt with a severe necrotizing fasciitis. In other words, I trust him

My husband has severe heart disease and after hurricane Ida he got a hernia that was twisting and painful. Thank goodness Dr James Christopher was there to help him. Dr. Christopher served our country and has been in practice in our community for many years. He was really good with explanations and his bed side manor. I highly recommend Dr. James Christopher. I am a local pediatrician. After hurricane Ida my husband sustained a hernia that was twisting and causing great pain. He has severe heart disease and is on blood thinners so any surgery is a very big deal. Dr. James Christopher was there for us. I already had great trust in Dr. Christopher’s skills as he served our country for many years and has been taking care of my pediatric and teen patients for years. What was extra special was Dr. Christopher’s bedside manner for my husband the day of the surgery! He thoroughly reviewed my husband’s medical history. I was referred to Dr. Christopher after going to the ER for a gallbladder attack. I went to his office for the consult on a Tuesday, and he was able to schedule the surgery for the following Monday. I got it out that Monday at Lakeview and by Thursday was back at work. No complications at all. Dr. Christopher himself was very confident and reassuring, which was good because this was my first surgery (besides tonsillectomy and wisdom teeth removal)

I was very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Christopher for bowel resection due to an embedded polyp found on routine colonoscopy. It was large and flat on the bowel wall. My gastroenterolgist said it needed to come out as the risk of conversion to bowel cancer was higher with this type of polyp. Dr. Christopher took the time to allay my apprehension and explain the procedure thoroughly. He removed 10" of bowel and reconnected the two ends at the same time so I didn't need a colostomy at all. A week after the surgery I was nearly back to normal. I will admit the first 24 hours were a bit rough though. Overall he made the bad situation as easy for me as he could and I recommend him highly.

Dr. Christerpher runs a very friendly and efficient office. It starts at arrival with Shannon who gets you checked in. Then Barbara takes you to the exam room and does the prelims. Everyone has a very positive attitude and are willing to answer your questions

I have had 2 separate surgeries in 2021 by Dr Christopher. He takes the time to fully explain and illustrate if needed what will be done. I have been well informed of the recovery expectations and have had no issues. Dr Christopher and staff are extremely professional and welcoming to new patients. I highly recommend this physician and team.

I went to Dr. Christopher for an umbilical hernia repair. He scheduled me for robotic assisted surgery soon, and the surgery was a success. It was minimally invasive, and I had little post-operative discomfort and am recovering quickly. Highly recommend.

Dr. Christopher was great. He took his time with me and explored all possible causes to what I experienced and explained possible causes very well. He ordered proper testing to have me examined. He communicates very well and is respectful. I did not need surgery, but if I did I would have trusted him 100% to operate on me. His office staff is very friendly!

Dr. Christopher has an amazing bedside manner in addition to being an extremely skilled surgeon. His staff is also very friendly and helpful. He performed a hernia repair on me that another surgeon would not b/c of the size of the hernia. He did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend Dr. Christopher to anyone.

He explained what to expect for my surgery using English not jargon and more importantly he personally called me after the surgery to check up on me instead of a disinterested nurse or PA. Felt he truly saw me as a person not a number.

Dr Christopher is a great surgeon. He did my operation on a Hiatal Hernia that was in my diaphragm area. I completely trusted his expertise with this surgery. It was a complete success & now I can eat again!! Dr Christopher took time to explain exactly what he was going to do to correct my problem and answered all my questions. I recently had hiatal hernia surgery and the results have been amazing. He is extremely patient and has extraordinary confidence in his work. His staff is also very professional and helpful. I would highly recommend Dr. New Roads as i call him to anyone suffering in silence. Of course his name is Dr. James Christopher but i love to mess with him. I also have a family member being treated by Dr. C. for a serious condition and he and his family are very pleased with the degree of caring and confidence of Dr. Christopher. Look no further for the right doctor for you gastric problems. He and his staff are extraordinary.

I went in bc I had two dog bites. I thought he would have to do something surgically but he didn’t and explained in detail why. I liked the the fact that he wasn’t anxious to use his scalpel! Great doctor!! My previous surgeon retired and I will be going back to Dr. Christoper when one is needed!!

Everything went so smoothly. I feel great already! Highly recommend.
