19 years of shoulder pain
I have had shoulder pain for almost 20 years. In one visit Dr. Dalton diagnosed it and made a plan to help it. He is a kind man, who concentrates on you and your problems when he is with you. Definitely a 10 out of 10!

Not pleasant
I arrived early for my appointment that I made a month beforehand and waited 50 minutes (40 past my appointment) and when I asked the front desk about it she said she would see how much longer the wait time would be. I asked if there was normally a wait time like this when you have an appointment. She said she didn’t know what I meant. I told her I arrived early to make sure paper work was filled out and had not realized it was normal to wait 40 plus minutes past your appointment to be seen. I ended up leaving since I knew I wouldn’t have time to pick up my kids if I waited too much longer. I understand 10 minutes past or heck even 15 I would have moved on from. She seemed confused as to why I was upset. I watched people who arrived after me and filled out new patient paperwork get called back. I felt unseen and ignored. I called to get my co pay back and was sent to voicemail. Haven’t heard back.

Wasn't treated like just another patient
He was thoughtful and understanding and funny! I appreciate humor! He never rushed through the appointment and answered all of my questions. Had a shot in my knee; we shall see how I feel in the coming days. Everyone there was kind! Thank you!

Dr. Dalton has operated on my knees and shoulder, I wouldn’t trust anyone else. In my opinion he and his staff, Lamar and Carla are top of the top in his field. Many thanks to them all.

Phenomenal Surgeon
I previously had a bad rotator cuff surgery experience with another Surgeon, in Mt. Pleasant, SC, in November of 2022. When I met Dr. Dalton for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised, and very appreciative of how much time he spent with me explaining my situation in a manner that had never been discussed before. He introduced different options to me and made me feel extremely comfortable with my decision. My surgery was a success, and I could not be more pleased with the outcome. I went into surgery on Friday 02/10/23, and I was back to work on Tuesday 02/14/23 with little, to no pain in my shoulder. He is a phenomenal Surgeon, as well as a person, and I would highly recommend he and his wonderful staff to anyone who may need shoulder surgery. Thank you, Dr. Dalton.

Sub Standard Care
This was my first initial appointment with Dr Dalton for my failed 7 months post operative full thickness rotator cuff repair. He didn’t introduce himself to me or my son upon entering the room. He told me he didn’t have my file however had some papers in his hands. I had all my records sent over months before this appointment so dishonest was a reflag. I ended the appointment. He failed to perform a proper, safe examination. As I opened the exam door to leave Dr Dalton told me to stop he needed to “test my strength .” Right there in the doorway with patients, other colleagues and my son looking. I almost fell because I was on my walker at the time and he needed my right arm to test my strength. A wasted trip to find out if revision was possible for my failed rotator cuff repair . Very disappointed in quality of care.

My name is Ron and my wife Barbara have been going to SC Sports Medicine Center for over 10 years and myself (Ronald) recently had left knee replacement around March 19th., 2021, and had excellent results in the surgery both before and after the surgery. Staff was outstanding and my Doctor was DR. James Dalton M.D. and the P.A. was Lamar Hood. What a team they are and answer all your questions and have excellent and professional manners. It's been just over six weeks since surgery and everything is going just like they have discussed with me with the healing process etc; as they have mention everybody heals different like the healing process, some longer than others. But for me having very positive results so soon. Again many thanks for my Doctor and staff of the SC Sports Medicine Center. Job well done and keep up the great work and service they provide! I can't thank the doctors, PA's, nurses and staff at SC Sports Medicine enough. Dr Hulvey and his team diagnosed my problems, Dr Wartinbee and his team corrected carpal tunnel in both hands and Dr Dalton & his team corrected a torn rotator cuff. Highly recommend this entire team.

EXCELLENT. The communication / explanation of the procedures was thorough. Dr. Dalton and his PA (Lamar Hood) took the office time to educate me on the whats and whys of their recommended course for my knee. He performed a partial knee replacement on me on May 2020. The office staff well prepared to provide all the information and equipment I would need before and after the surgery.
