I am surprised by how little pain I am in after a complete shoulder replacement. Friends who’ve had shoulder surgery have told me about the amount (and the long duration) of their pain. I keep waiting to experience that pain, but it’s never come. I was off the narcotics within a day or two. I’ve only used OTC NSAIDs thereafter. After two weeks, I’m already able to do light computer work so long as I keep proper posture. Immediately before the start of the surgery, Dr. Kelly showed me how he had game planned my surgery in advance based on my MRI. Dr. Kelly is amazing. Highly recommended.

At 50 years old 14 years ago I got a full right shoulder replacement from Dr. Kelley due to severe arthritis. He did an outstanding job. He told me at the time that I would likely need a revision after 14 years or so and I am going to have to have that done within the next year and I would allow no one but Dr. Kelley to do so

He replaced both my shoulders and fixed the broken humerus at the same time in one. His surgeries seem to hurt less and heal faster. I have great range of motion and I was relaxed and confident Dr Kelly knew the best route to take. Really impressive!

I was referred by another orthopedic surgeon to Dr. Kelly because they can’t repair the tendon and muscle tears on my left shoulder. His staff took more X-rays, and Dr. Kelly reviewed them… he took his time to explain the need for a shoulder replacement ( he is the expert for the procedure per my surgeon)…. left his office feeling I am in good hands.. looking forward to surgery in a month.

I waited 45 minutes to see Dr. Kelly, and he only expend 3 minutes in my visit. I was seeing him for the first time., seems to me he was in a rush.

My two appointments to date with Dr. Kelly have been at the highest level of quality. It starts with Dr. Kelly’s thoroughness, as well as the time to hear my various issues. At no time have I ever felt rushed during my appointments … which by the way, were done on time with all paperwork ready. I have shoulder surgery scheduled for late August 2024, and I am at ease and confident in Dr. Kelly’s skills and extensive background and qualifications.

Dr. Kelly was very patient and thorough as he tried to determine what was wrong with my shoulder which was causing me significant pain. He took X-rays and reviewed the results with me and then laid out my options and a plan 'A' and then a plan 'B'. I appreciate his thorough approach.

I have experienced left shoulder pain and Dr. Kelly was kind and very professional. They should resolve them almost immediately after the injection he saw me run on time. This time was friendly and helpful. I was very happy with the service I received.

He explains what you are about to experience. When he operated on me for the first time, i had never had a surgery, I had never been in the hospital as an in patient and I was terrified. I called him and he took time out of his very busy day to talk with me. His explanation and calm manner helped me enormously. This man is a brillant surgeon. Even my Physical Therapist was amazed by my recovery. That was 10 years ago and my shoulders are still great. Thank you, Dr James Kelly.

Although ,Dr. Kelly is an "Internationally recognized surgeon, who has performed numerous shoulder replacement surgeries, and written a variety of publications, he is too busy to follow up/through with patients whose surgeries didn't go as well as expected. We are incredibly disappointed, especially after he came "highly recommended". Watching a loved one in extreme, excruciating pain, while observing their progress heading in the wrong direction, is heartbreaking. One would hope after performing a ground breaking surgery that involved "brand new" pyro-carbon technology, he would monitor patients, note their progress, and share the pros and cons. "His love for the outdoors translates into his ambition to see his patients return to their activities", really translates to "His lack of bedside manner", which is alarming! We are aware of the 1% of shoulder surgeries that have gone awry. But radio silence is not what one would expect from a world renown surgeon. Bad form Dr. Kelly.
