Spinal Fusion
I visited Dr. Macnutt fir a consultation regarding nerve damage to my right arm. After seeing my MRI, he explained that I needed a spinal fusion from C2-T2. He was up front and very blunt about my case. I've seen some of the reviews here and I think his bedside mannerr is very appropriate. He doesn't lead you on, nor does he make promises he knows he has no control over. He explained how the surgery would work, even going step by step, beginning with how much muscle he would be cutting through. The results of his work were amazing and after having another nerve issue I have another appointment with him and as much as I hate it, possibly another surgery. So, I'm coming back to the person who helped me get relief when I could've been actually paralyzed. Now, yes, he doesn't speak loudly and you may have to have him repeat himself. But, that is not because of him not wanting to share details with you. I did and will again, put my faith in him and hai surgical team.

Very insensitive and uncaring
We found Dr. MacNutt to be very insensitive, rude, and lacked compassion to our family member. He seemed to refuse to speak up loud enough for our family member to hear him, even though he knew they couldn’t hear, he continued to mumble. He offered no hope and was very unprofessional. We felt very disrespected and discouraged, likely due to our family member being elderly. There is a nice way to say anything and we really feel he needs to work on his bedside manner. I have never written a review for a doctor before but felt this was absolutely necessary.

After several years of suffering from a spinal condition and with the opinion of several Doctors from Florida and Maine, I felt confident enough to have surgery a few months ago. My recovery was as explained to me and my quality of life returned to what it was 10 or 15 years ago. My opinion of Dr. Macnutt is highly positive and respectful.

I too found Dr. Macnutt incredibly kind and very competent. It’s been 4 years since my back surgery (discectomy and Laminectomy) and I am still doing well. My experience was awesome with my docs ( including Dr. David Hutchinson) at St. Luke’s. I would not hesitate to go back to Dr. MacNutt if I need a neurosurgeon in the future! Thank you!

My son was in a very tragic accident and Dr. MacNutt performed several surgeries on him. We are so thankful for his gifted steady hands and his conscientious work. We appreciate all he did for our son and brother.

Dr MacNutt was sensitive and although he has a jovial personality he was serious when we needed him to be.

I saw Dr MacNutt for a second opinion and couldn't be happier! He did a thorough examination and took the time to explain everything and answer all of my questions. He is very personable. I am so glad that I was referred to him and I would recommend him to anyone!

Arrogant jerk who has no bedside manner. Convinced me that the torn herniated disks in my back were a sacroiliac joint issue causing the pain. Returned with continued pain and was told there was nothing he could do. Just had double spinal fusion with an awesome Dr.
