Dr. James Marx, DO

Dr Marx was my PCP for 24 years. In 2021, after 3.5 years of multiple surgeries by a physician at TMC, I was septic sick. The orthopedic doctor at TMC and their ER IGNORED the fact that my leg was literally Rotting inside of me. Dr Marx SAVED MY LIFE by putting me on antibiotics for infection, we both knew I had a Bad infection. I’d already had Sepsis acquired from TMC 4 times prior to this. If Marx hadn’t listened like the doctors at Truman, I wouldn’t be alive. But he’s the ONLY doctor that DID listen. And for that I’m eternally grateful for his care. And I haven’t found another doctor like him since.In regards to the previous patients complaints, those issues are related to the company Meritas Health and their Manager. Over booking doctors, Issues with the office returning my calls 3 days in a row. Didn’t hear back from the office manager for 5 days. If the doctor isn’t in the office the MA Nurse reviews the message but there isn’t anyone following up on it, so they ignore it.

I loved Dr. Marx... I had been with him for around 20 years. In the beginning he was the best, most empathetic Dr. that I had ever been to. He was such a breath of fresh air. He put you at ease and was beyond competent. Since he joined Meritas Health he's like night & day. You waited forever, and then he was rushed, had no time to answer questions, or discuss options. I didn't know what to think. It was like going to a stranger that you had seen most of your adult life. When he left the practice there was no reason or notice given. Stuck accepting a doctor that you haven't even had time to review. Total nightmare. Run! Young Doctor with a God complex, who's also an owner. Dr. Coyle. No empathy and puts new patients in danger by altering dosage amounts, to not prescribing them at all. Read the patients medical history first. God complex

Dr. Marx had been my doctor since 2014. I liked the hands off feel, he didn’t drag us into the office for every little thing we had going on. If I had a respiratory infection I could call in for some steroids for my asthma or antibiotics for strep throat. He trusted his patients to know there bodies and play a active role in our healthcare. He was great about helping you figure out the best plan/solution for your treatment without being Vindictive if you had a difference in opinion. It was quicker to get a response by sending a message to the portal as opposed to calling. His nurse was amazing as well. Not totally sure of the circumstances but he is no longer practicing at this time. His partners have been awesome in taking over the care of his patients in his absence these last few months. I wish him the best and if he returns I would like to see him again but Dr. Coyle seems to be amazing so far with his loss.

Dr. Marx is an outstanding medical professional. He is very efficient but has always given me his full attention & taken whatever time is necessary to listen to my concerns regarding my health care needs. I could not be more pleased and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, competent, and compassionate doctor.

I was a patient of Dr. Marx years ago when he was in practice with one other doctor. He was awesome, a wonderful doctor, caring, professional taking time to address medical issues for me and my children. I moved away and when we returned to Kansas City, of course I made an appointment with him. He has changed drastically with Merits Health. He was rushed, did not answer my questions - telling me he was on a time limit with patients. I was shocked. Obviously he is now in my opinion, in big medicine. Rush the patient in and out, like cattle. More patients, more money. Sad.

I was scheduled for a complete physical exam. And he didn't DO anything listened to my heart. He does not care about certain people who have bone problems or heart problems, I do not recommend him at all. His nurse on the other hand is wonderful. I can talk to her and at least she is attentive to what I am trying to say. I go home in tears every time I see him. No more. Very poor person to be acting as a doctor.

It was horrible, he would not listen to what I he to say. I had important questions to ask cause i need help and i couldn’t get any questions out. I needed medical help and was completely dismissed and rushed.

While my physician was out on maternity leave, I saw Dr. Marx for a bad case of diverticulitis. He was kind, professional, and when I had to contact him on the weekend, be was very cordial. As a health care provider myself, I would definitely recommend him!

I have been going to see Dr. Marx for 20 plus years. Always happy with him until the last year or so. Seems he is tired of dealing with me, and rushes me out the door every chance he gets. Doesn't care to treat me like he did early on. I don't think I will be going back to him.

My son who is a patient with Dr. Marx and has been going to him for years for chronic pain along with horrible headaches. Tried every medicine only to find one that actually made him feel like living only to have this medicine yanked away from him, there are plenty of records showing my son needs this medicine and nothing else works. What does he do but sends him to a neurologist that he has already been to with no help. So he pawns him off on someone who has not helped him either. Did you not listen to my son, did you not hear his words when he told you there are only 2 options and I must point out they break my heart as a mother. How dare you blow my son off, he has called your office for 2 days in a row to have no return call. Shame on you for calling yourself a doctor wanting to help people. Shame on you Dr. Marx and Shame on Meritas for having someone like you as a Doctor on there Staff. You are a disgrace to the Medical Profession.

My whole family and I have seen Dr. Marx for years now. He really listens and he and his staff are very friendly. He moved to a new office a couple years ago and it's very up to date and close to the highway. I world definitely recommend for the entire family health needs. Love you Dr. Marx

I have been a patient of Dr. Marx for 20 years. I couldn't imagine using another PCP. He is nice, well mannered, compassionate and i always feel like he actually knows me. Over the years I have reccommended him many times to people. I always will. He is just THE BEST!!!

His staff takes days to get back to you when you leave a message or want to refill your meds. Sometimes they never call back.

I would recommend Dr. Marx.

Dr Marx has been our family physician for many years. He will listen to your concerns and take care of the problems to the best of his ability. He will not try to rush you at all, he takes all of time you need. I recommend Dr James Marx to all.
