My son was born without a soft spot in 1992. At 7 weeks old Dr McComb performed surgery at Children’s Hospital on my son. We were experiencing chaos in LA with the riots following the Rodney King event. My husband and I stayed at the hospital day and night until we took our son home. Dr McComb gave us so much confidence in him I thought he could do the surgery in his sleep. Years later from k-nearly all his grade school years he excelled to be awarded the gold or silver metal in his private school. Now a thriving builder of custom homes!

I was born in 1979, rushed from Arcadia Method Hospital to Childrens Hospital in LA, where I ended up being in the care of Dr. McComb. I had a hole in my lower back and I was born with Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. After a few days of measuring my head, he had determined that I had Hydrocephalus and installed a VP Shunt. I'd had several revisions done by him and a Spinal Cord untethering. I last saw him in 2005, where he referred me to someone else, due to my age and age constraints at Childrens LA. While he did refer me, I never saw the new doctor, since he is also a pediatric doctor. Last time I saw Dr. McComb, I was 26, and the last thing I said to him, was thank you for giving me 26 years of life. I'm now 44. I'm worried I'll never find a new doctor as good as he is. The only thing that frustrated me, is that there were times when I was there in his office, with my mom and he would get called away to surgery and we'd have to reschedule. Annoying, but clear testament to how good he is, and for neurosurgery, that's of utmost importance.

My daughter was born with spina bifida 41 years ago. Dr McComb was called immediately after she was born. He did surgery on her spine within 12 hours and 3 days later did brain surgery to put in a shut. I was told by Courtney's pediatrician to "not get attached to her". Dr. McComb disagreed. Well here we are. Courtney just celebrated her 41st birthday! I am indebted to Dr McComb for saving my daughter's life. He is the "God" of neuro surgery.

I was diagnosed with a brain tumor when I was about 7 years old. I was referred to doctor Gordon Mccomb. He performed the surgery and it was successful. A few years later when I was about 15 years old it grew back. He performed a second surgery and removed the brain tumor completely. He said this time around it won’t grow back. He was 100% correct. I thank god every day that this doctor was able to perform such a miracle. Every day that I’m alive is thanks to Doctor Mccomb and god himself. Have faith as I did with this doctor. Words are not enough to show my gratitude. Very grateful and thankful.

When I was born my doctor gave up on me and left the room because he didn't know what to do with me because of the way I looked. My mother was airlifted with me to CHLA where Dr McComb would see me for the next 10 years. He has truly changed the quality of my life!!!

In 2005 I was told by Drs at LBCH that they didn't have the expertise to save my 3mo. old infant, they were only relieving his pain. He had a Spinal Cord Lipoma from C/3 to T/8, it was crippling him. His R arm & legs were severely affected. A dear friend found Dr. McComb & my child was air-lifted to CHLA. Shortly after, Dr. McComb saved my sons life! I can not find the words to express our gratitude, I thank God for Dr.McComb. ??

Our 7 month old daughter needed surgery for saggital craniosynostosis and we referred to Dr. McComb's office. He was very confident and extremely proficient at these procedures and put my wife and I at ease right away. He was happy to answer any questions or concerns we had and took his time seeing us. The surgery was a success and our daughter was back to normal in a week. She is recovering nicely and back to her happy self. We are grateful to have been in such good hands.
