My daughter was referred to dr Moyer for left ddh between 2-3 months old. We were in the Pavlik harness for 7 weeks just after my daughter turned 4 months he did another US & he said it was normal so he discontinued the Pavlik and gave us a rhino cruiser to wear at night. Then scheduled an appointment for 2 months later when she was 6 months. At her 6mo follow up they did an X-ray. He came in the room and said X-ray didn’t look good and we needed to be in the rhino cruiser for the next 6 months for 18 hours a day. And if that did not correct it she would possible require an open reduction at 2 years old. We traveled to Vanderbilt hospital 2 days later for a second opinion and it turns out her hips look great. They said the X-ray he had done was not a good one and instead of hip dysplasia she has femoral head anteversion and there is a question weather she ever had hip dysplasia at all. We were totally led astray and hope other parents learn from this review

I am writing this out of concern for anyone considering Moyer. My niece was referred to Moyer as an infant; her pediatrician noticed a hip click at birth. Moyer saw my niece at the age of 3 months & put her in a Pavlick harness and diagnosed her with hip dysplasia. She was told to wear for 3 weeks and then come back for a check-up. At the check-up they decided to go down to 23 hours and he would see her again in a couple weeks and they would go down to 18 hours a day and so on. At 6 month check-up he told them the dysplasia had healed and could remove the Pavlick and go to a rhino cruiser at night. They went to her 6 month check-up this week and had x-rays done. Moyer read the scans and said the dysplasia was now severe and she would need to wear the rhino brace for 18 hours a day until she was 2 and then possibly surgery with a spica cast after that. Luckily, my sister took my niece for a second opinion at Vanderbilt and Moyer had misdiagnosed and had the wrong x-rays taken!

Dr. Moyer is such an amazing, patient, and loyal doctor. My daughter Anniston has seen him since she was born because of her club feet and we could not have wished for a better doctor. He answers every question we have and he is so amazing with her, she just loves him and so do we!!!!
