Dr. Rathmell was doctor #25 in my search for pain relief following herniated (ruptured in the vernacular) L4/L5 discuss and failed back surgery. Dr. Rathmell tried SCS and about two dozen oral medicines before resorting to intrathecal opoids (pain pump). The surgery was flawless. Before the pump, I was unable to drive more than two miles, now I can drive 40. Before, I sometimes could not walk from bathroom to bedroom closet closet because of pain, now I walk a most normally with a cane.
