Excellent
Dr. Stephen recommended Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery after a Spinal Steroid Injection for a herniated disk proved to be of no help. Another Injection was recommended. I went with the Surgery which was performed in short order. 3 hours after the surgery, I left the hospital and walked to the car with NO discomfort and put the walker away. 6 weeks later, I’m back to all my activities which include walking, senior softball and road biking.

I could not be more fortunate by happenstance to have Dr. Stephen be available in my time of dire need for back surgery. I am grateful for his critical thinking so specific to my situation unlike other surgeons I had consulted. His approach and work will allow me to continue to function normally and not burdened by unnecessary fusions, thank you ! He is a compassionate Dr that went out of his way to care for me, that I will not forget anytime soon.

Dr. Stephen is not only a gifted surgeon, he is a compassionate, emphatic gentleman that gives great comfort to his patients. I was in a crisis due to a severe brain bleed, close to dying. His supreme expertise not only saved my life, he was able to give me back my life with no brain damage that could have diminished it in countless ways. I will always be thankful to him.

Dr. Stephens diagnosed me in October 2020 and a month later performed surgery on my spine. I was in a bad motorcycle accident when I was 21 along with a couple of bad falls. Before my surgery I was having flaming pain in my neck and shoulder. Dr. Stephen replaced C-3-4-5 with new titanium discs. It's been 12 weeks now and I'm doing great! Thank you Dr. Stephen and Colorado Brain & Spine Inst.

This Doctor, Dr James Stephen is Incredible! He reattached my “internally decapitated” skull to my spine! Two years and counting! February 1, 2019, I was in an extreme bicycling accident, shattered C1, broke C2, separated C3, and numerous other vertebrae were injured; Dr James put me back together! Not only is he amazingly skilled as a surgeon he has an endearing bedside manner which is terribly lacking in most of the medical industry; I grew up around it. The follow up appointments were always sincere, warm and professional. I was fortunate to serendipitously land on Dr James’ operating table and can thank Powers greater than myself for that! I made a complete recovery! (If you want to see a video of my experience go to YouTube, search, “Near Death Experience NDE” David A. Skudneski.

Just outstanding. He performed major surgery on my wife. He made us feel extremely comfortable and checked in with her daily after the surgery to ensure she was healing well. Overall the best experience with a doctor that I've ever had.

Waited 3+ weeks for a response or communication at all about my case, and not one outreach, to myself or my insurance co. Even though I was told my case was marked as “Urgent”! Takes 30 minutes minimum to answer the phone

Dr Stephen is a breath of fresh air. I felt like he took his time to explain what was going and what to expect. He truly cares. He is skilled in what he does and my outcomes reflect it.
