San Antonio staff is unfriendly and lacks empathy.
For the first attempt to see Dr. Malik at the Balcones Heights location, he was running very behind. I waited for 1 1/2 hours in the waiting area with no attempt by the receptionist to update his status unless I asked. I had to reschedule since I needed to get back to work. For the rescheduled appt, I asked the receptionist if she happened to know if Dr. Malik was running behind today just so I'd be prepared and her extremely snippy reply was "Dr. Malik never runs late." Really? That's the whole reason I had to come in the 2nd time! I didn't ask it in a mean way, it was just simply a question. The nurse who took my vitals never introduced herself and hardly ever looked at me when asking questions or during the EKG. Her bedside manner was extremely poor and lacked any sort of friendliness.

Husband in Dr. Malik’s care @ Texsan after massive coronary when all coronary arteries were blocked. Malik’s skill, knowledge of effective interventions, & phenomenal team of doctors he‘s assembled, saved husband when no one thought it likely. He put an Impella device in his heart which pumped FOR his heart for days, letting it rest once stents opened up 3 arteries. 1 of those tortuous CAs, only someone with. Malik’s skill would even have attempted to stent! He was in advanced heart failure, so called in Dr. Michael Kwan, head of the advanced heart failure team at Methodist Main. Thanks to the wonderful ICU nurses, doctors, PT staff for saving my husband’s life. It’s been 2 1/2 months, but he’s home & progressing. Malik is highly skilled, personable, compassionate, humble, & secure enough to say “I don’t know” if true. Had my husband died, I still would be singing Dr. Malik & Kwan’s praises - no one else could have saved him either, I know. Former nurse, & highly recommend him!

Dr. Malik, in my opinion, is the best heart doctor in the US and overall just the best doctor I have ever seen. He is not only educated, understanding, knowledgeable, and yes prompt, but overall a good person. Dr. Malik is a good person and wants you to feel that way about him. Dr. Malik never acts hurried. He listens and always will accommodate you if you think other tests would be beneficial. If he feels the same, he will order them. In my case, he did any test that I asked for if it indeed were a test that would give me more solid results as to my heart condition. He just wants the very best for all his patients. I wish more doctors were like him. It would make our world so much better to live in, particularly if it pertained to a world that required a good heart doctor. See him and you will automatically see what I am describing here. My husband unfortunately just saw the worse heart doctor in SA, so I know the best Linda Stotts, Patient of Dr. Malik

This doctor is the best! I took my husband to 3 cardiologist, 2 hospitals and they all told us he was fine because stress test and echo cardio gram was good. When Dr Malik examined him to reviewed his history he knew that something was wrong. He did an angiogram on him and found two major arteries blocked, one 90% and second 95%! I don’t even want to think what would’ve happened to my husband had we not seen Dr Malik. God Bless Dr Malik and his staff????????
