Very poor performance
Do not see this Dr. she lacks empathy and understanding. She was unwilling to meet me and my husband where we were just pushing IVF and her way and view of doing things . She told me that I would never conceive . Two months later I conceived naturally and she was ticked rather than happy for us. Not acceptable. This is my body. She insisted that I would bleed and “ die “ once I wouldn’t take her recommendations. Very abusive in speech and overbearing with her viewpoint . Terrible experience

Disrespectful and smug
Telehealth
As I was going through the emotional process of trying to get pregnant after multiple miscarriages, Dr. Shifren asked me to explain how I felt and then immediately talked over me so much I had to ask her to let me speak. We both raised our voices in an effort to be heard, which is something I haven't done since I was a teenager, and I left feeling angry and disgusted. She was condescending, cold, and smug. When I said I felt unsafe and uncared for with her proposed treatment strategy (which was not what I originally agreed to), she said I would risk a miscarriage no matter what so I might as well just throw caution to the wind. She couldn't have cared less about my pain. It was brutal.

Do your search and get second opinions. She doesn’t go through your test results and lacks knowledge and care. Your health deserves more.

Dr Shifren is best and I feel so fortunate she was our Doctor for our infertility needs. Her positive energy, ability to provide so much information in such a human way, and just general reassuring presence made a very difficult process so much easier. We’ve used dr Shifren twice now - once when living in Boston at MGH and a second time at Newton Wellesly. We have one little toddler and another on the way. I am so grateful - the process was not easy and took various treatments but she helped us get there emotionally and physically. Thank you Dr. Shifren - I cannot imagine a more charismatic, smart and positive doctor (and I’ve met many!). I also want to say her office staff are amazing, most recently at newton Wellesley -from Kim at reception to Grace (obsessed with Grace) who took my blood sometimes daily to Zusana, an incredibly smart, kind and thoughtful nurse - the entire team was wonderful. I highly recommend this practice.

I totally recommend Dr. Schifren and her staff at Newton Wellesley. They all work very hard to detail and don’t neglect their patients like they do at other fertility centers I’ve been to.

I saw the physician I sought out for care once during a year of visits. Privacy protection seems hard with staff using first and last name when calling for blood draws and announcing through a mask and a screen your full name to check-in. Re medications, I wish the clinic could have shared tips after having shepherded so many patients through such as shaving stomach areas before using the patches and pinching a different area when doing injections to ease the pain. After the first failed procedure, I waited two weeks to hear from the doctor. For another procedure, I received the wrong instructions from a nurse for preparation which led to painful discomfort, then waited for over 45 minutes to be seen without any explanation/updates. The procedure was conducted by a self-described "third-party" clinician helping out. I am grateful to get clinical expertise, but feel negligible as a person. I've concluded that the clinic is a place to get procedures done but not a place to get care.

There was drama surrounding why I drank water 2 hours prior to my retrieval & Shifren had no patience to entertain the possibility that messages get miscommunicated and/or misheard. In her world it was either people were being honest or not. And since she already decided that the staff had integrity, it meant that I the patient didn't. I mean, I only stuck myself w/needles for 2 weeks & I have every reason to sabotage my treatment. Fortunately I had good results but it was not owing to her only

Unfortunately I would not recommend Dr Shifren. Although knowledgeable, she lacks people skills. I have found her to lack empathy, to rush through information, condescending, talks over you, arrogant and has forgotten that she is dealing infertility which for couples is an emotional and difficult time. She is purely clinical, , and rushes through a tick list of tests or items to feedback. She comes across as very fake, and I am seriously considering changing doctors. The team of nurses are great

Dr. Shifren & her team were cold, condescending, arrogant, lack empathy, was defensive, accusatory & unapologetic after making numerous mistakes & never took responsibility. Never took time to answer questions & didnt get back to me in a timely manner when I had an urgent time-sensitive question. Twice I was scheduled for blood work & since I was aware of their incompetence I confirmed it 3 x w/her office, yet both times I went to blood lab they never received records of it. Worst Dr experience.

Very disappointed with Dr. Shifren & how she treated my wife. She lacks empathy & brushes questions off, as another reviewer also posted. When she/her staff makes a mistake (which happened 3 times over the course of 4 visits), she gets extremely defensive, doesn't take responsibility & is unapologetic. She doesnt seem to genuinely care & comes across very fake. We are switching Doctors & only wish my wife had switched sooner. Was an extremely negative experience from the 1st visit to the last.
