Doesn't listen
I’m only giving one star because that’s the lowest rating possible—she deserves zero. I had an appointment with her today, and from the very beginning, she was extremely combative. She barely addressed my diabetes and dismissed my concerns about sores on my feet, stating, “I’m not a podiatrist,” even though the sores are related to my diabetes. We tried to voice our concerns and explain what was going on, but she wasn’t paying attention. She kept nodding and saying “yes,” only to ask the same questions minutes later, forcing us to repeat ourselves repeatedly. It was clear she wasn’t listening. If you’re looking for a doctor who listens to your concerns, shows compassion, and takes their job seriously, Dr. Jane Rhyu is not the doctor for you.

I saw Doctor Rhyu a few times. I’ll admit, she ran a lot of blood tests to rule out various issues, however once the results came back with not enough severity to actually diagnose anything, I was told basically nothing could be done. She said to me that a negative test result is something to celebrate, to which I responded that it is hard to celebrate a negative test result when I still feel awful and don’t know what is wrong with me. To that, she responded with “I understand, but there are people out there who actually have cancer or MS and wish they could have your symptoms and it not be cancer or MS”. I understand where she is coming from, however I do not believe that is an appropriate approach to any patient’s case. It felt like I was being gaslit. Again, very nice lady…I just feel that there is a more appropriate approach to making a patient feel seen or heard.

Needs to listen to her patients.
I will give her an average rating. Hopefully she will learn to be more flexible in the future with her thinking and become a better doctor instead of asking the patient if they are overmedicating. If she hasn't heard of something then she will say it can't happen. I took some medication that affected my blood test results and she kept reducing the amount of synthroid which caused digestive problems, and my kidney tests went down because I was dehydrated. I also was having trouble with the dyes in the pill which affects the absorption. I was happy that she gave me tests to rule out anything else and did try to follow-up with a response, but she needs to be a mature medical professional and not put her frustrations on her patients. I will give her an average rating because not everyone would have known about this. You don't attempt to cure one thing and cause other problems. How a patient feels should play some part in the medical decision. She is sweet and should improve in the future

I felt she was thorough and listened well
I found Dr. Rhyu thoughtful and thorough, and I didn't feel rushed. She changed a medication and explained why, and ordered proper lab work in my initial visit. My case is complicated, but she was able to work with my endocrinology symptoms.

Not sure where the one star review came from but Dr Rhyu has been incredible so far. She is currently treating my wife and daughter. Various issues. Spend significant time getting to know both my wife and daughter and her bedside manner is well above average.
