Complacent Doc
Didn't feel enough questions were asked and the doctor wasn't being very thorough in their evaluation. I felt rushed to get through the appointment. The doctor took forever in getting back with important questions when asked and would not call back herself. Left it up to her staff who didn't have the answers.

I am so disappointed in this office. My husband and I have been going here for 20 years and this past weekend I was in the ER and was told to make a follow up appointment with my PCP (Dr. Sumner) in 3 days. I just called the office to make an appointment and was told the "earliest" I could be seen by Dr. Sumner is in the beginning of September. That is not acceptable. I asked to see another provider and was told that they are down a provider and she would have to message someone and get back to me. I never received the return phone call. I have had nothing but issues with this office and today was it. I will be moving our care to another office. I am a medical office manager and this office is the worst I have ever experienced. They have a front desk staff that is rude when answering phone calls and they are not educated enough in the insurance process on which services to collect co-pays for. Look for another provider.

My visit was due to a very painful shoulder - I assumed it was a rotator cuff issue. She did not examine my shoulder, she did not do any of the typical tests like applying pressure to my arms at different positions to narrow down the possibilities, she did not ask any questions. She said go see a physical therapist. She seemed very annoyed that I was there.

Former Patient – Apr 10, 2020

During this crisis, I experienced severe back pain (thinking it was a kidney infection), I called to speak to Dr Sumner. I was told that because I had not been in the office for 3 years that I'm no longer a patient and she's not accepting any new patients. After coming to the office for 15 years I tried to reason with her but was met with an augmentative receptionist. I was never notified of such a 'rule' however all my tests were sent to her office in the last 24 months. What happened to those? Just ignored? Thrown out? No records were received I was told, impossible! Then told it was the insurance company that is supposed to inform me - I called them, and NO they don't manage how doctors manage their patients. A call back from the receptionist with Dr. Sumner’s recommendation: Visit Urgent Care... REALLY??? Well, I am terrified to visit Urgent Care and fear that I will not be able to obtain a doctor during this crisis. Be aware!!

Discouraged and Disappointed – Apr 05, 2020

I have to write a negative review. I've been a patient in this office for many years and something has surely changed in the last few years. Dr. Sumner is NOT a good listener. Dr. B used to be but now seems frazzled most of the time. I'm totally looking for a new office.

Very bad and lacking ROS (review of symptoms) before making a diagnosis. Failed to perform (or refer) to medical testing or obtain laboratory results of my mother's ailment. Avoid Dr. Sumner if you value complete, thorough, truthful diagnostic services for your loved ones. Don't let her claims of her years of experience substitute for her lazy and incomplete diagnostic skills. You deserve better information that Dr. Sumner provides. (one star because you can not go any lower)

You can never get an appointment. Could care less if you stop breathing because of medicine that was prescribed by them. You land in the Emergency room and still refuse to give you an appointment for another week, won't even call in meds that were given by ER doctor or anything else that could help you. Tell you to just go back to the ER if you stop breathing again. There is also no personal care, you are literally just a number to this office.
