Dr. Jared Smith, MD

My primary Dr Stokes referred me to Dr Jared B Smith, MD General Surgeon for my hernia. Previous to Dr Smith, other surgeons would tell me to lose a lot of weight but not how much weight. Dr Smith took my measurements and asked me about my activity. Dr Smith gave me a weight goal (lose 40 lbs); he suggested additional easy exercise; and provided a simple but nutritional diet plan. I had periodic check ins. The weight loss was slow but steady. Dr Smith was always positive and professional. His office staff was as professional and supportive as he was. It took nearly 8 months to lose the weight. The surgery was in February 2025. There is no longer an ugly bulge that looked like a soccer ball. My clothes are smaller and fit much better. I have been able to keep my weight within 2-3 lbs of the surgical weight I needed to be for the surgery. As a senior, I was more cautious about my recovery picking up items and my posture as I healed. I would recommend Dr Smith.

Dr. Smith is an outstanding surgeon. In this day and age of rushing through patients, Dr. Smith is the exception. He takes the time to get to know his patients and their situations and weighs all factors of the patient's care plan. Furthermore, he sees the patient's case through from start to finish. For example, leading up to surgery, Dr. Smith was consulted on a number of occasions, and he always did so willingly, carefully, and with concern. After surgery, Dr. Smith continued to follow up to make sure all was going well. Dr. Smith truly puts his patients and their well-being ahead of all else; I cannot recommend him enough.

Over flowed with patients to the point everything is forgotten. I have had several referrals I've been told have been sent out and weeks later after calling and calling find out they never were. I am never informed of why. Took my gallbladder out- literally ripped my incision the gallbladder came out of thay also resulted in a 6 week hematoma that caused me to have to use a wheelchair and unable to get up or walk alone at all. Afterwards had a hernia that needed removed. Paid for SEVERAL appointments with him were he just added test after test (that I had to contact him over and over and over about because referral never sent as told) and ended up he is unable to even do the surgery, but sure had me come in and pay a few more co pays before informing me of that. He had done paperwork for me after surgery. With everything going on and being very close to malnurishment I asked he do an extension and he said yes. After waiting a week for paperwork he then informs me he no longer does that

Dr. Smith did my gallbladder removal and did an awesome job. I can tell he cares about his patients. My recovery time hasn't been to bad at all. I highly recommend Dr. Jared Smith.

Dr Smith is a very good and thorough doctor. He explained my current congratulations and then just what he was going to do as far as the surgery. I’m well pleased and would not hesitate to back if I need to.

Dr. Smith is a great Dr. He explains surgical procedures very well and in a way the patient can understand. He has a pleasant bedside manner.

Female in my 70s. I did my research prior to choosing Dr. to repair a hernia that I’ve been putting off for too many years. Dr. Smith was my choice and it was a good one. He answered all my many questions, scheduled me for surgery and now it’s done! I only wish I’d done it years ago. He’s very good. I’m a week past the surgery and feeling great. Can lift heavy things again without worrying or aching. The other very important (to me) quality he has is that he listens and is patient in answering questions. During the 1 week follow up visit after surgery, I had one complaint about something that occurred at the hospital. By the time I returned home, he had called and left a message that he’d passed on my complaint!! That’s being heard instead of placated. I highly recommend.

Dr.Smith is very thorough in his care. He takes time to explain and answer any questions you may have. He truly cares for his patients and you can feel that when you are with him. I’m always confident that I’m in the best hands when he’s my surgeon. I absolutely would recommend him over and over to my family or anyone else. The office staff is friendly and professional! I’ve received some of my best care at this office and that’s saying a lot as I’ve had several providers in the last couple of years being a cancer patient.

Took my elderly father to Dr. Smith. My father is deaf and Dr. Smith and his staff were patient and kind.

My experience with Dr. Smith was wonderful! He took the time to listen to all of my concerns and made me feel more comfortable about the surgery I had. Everything went well and I am on the road to recovery. I am very happy so far with the results. I highly recommend him!

I was hospitalized 3 days before Dr. Smith cane to see me and like magic I had tests/labs ordered and finally peace of mind knowing I had answers for the pain I had been experiencing and come to find out I need to have gallbladder surgery which was done 2 days later. Dr. Smith keep my family and I very informed. Definitely appreciate Dr. Smith ??

Dr. Jared Smith took exceptional care of me. He explained everything to reassure I was prepared.

Everything went perfect, right from the initial consultation, through pre-op and the surgical procedure itself, to the follow up consultation one week later. Everyone I came in contact with performed at 100%, and the surgery by Dr. Smith went so well that I had no need for pain medication afterwards. In fact, the surgery on my neck was done so well, that I had no one even ask me what had happened to my neck. I cannot say enough about the skills, the manner in which he explains things, and how easy he is to talk to. He really makes you feel like a personal friend. I highly recommend him, and if there were 10 stars rather than 5 for this rating, I would definitely given him a 10.

Had major surgery in colon and other locations. Dr Smith literally call my son in the operating room to update on changes taking place. He also gave me his cell phone number on the first visit with permission to call him any time for questions etc. Outstanding care from Dr. Smith.

Dr. Smith saved my life. I had a gastric perforation and became extremely septic and Dr. Smith performed the surgery on me. I've read testimonies of others who have been through the same thing as myself, most all had to spend months in the hospital post surgery. I feel blessed and lucky, because after the surgery and being in a coma for 16 days, I felt good enough and strong enough to go home after a week! Dr. Smith has followed up with me to ensure my recovery is going well. 10 stars!!!

This surgeon is amazing, he saved my husband's life & has done nothing but give him the best continuing treatment. He's extremely intelligent & thorough, he knows his stuff... Highly recommend.

Slow in getting back with test results. Showed no urgency or willingness to find solution. Terrible experience.
