Dr. Jason Kung, MD

I am a 65 year old woman who has had chronic back pain for 45 years. Over the past 18 months I have had four back surgeries. Pain was manageable for a short while, now back. Dr. Kung recommended we do a trial Spinal Cord Stimulation to see if that will help. I hate taking opiates, so if we could bring the pain level lower with Science vs meds, I am so thrilled! He treated me with respect and dignity. He did not talk down to me, I very much respect the man!

I had a total knee replacement that went south. It was followed by two revision surgeries and a manipulation to no avail because the nerve would keep firing and brought physical therapy to a halt. Dr. Kung did a SPRINT implant that showered the nerve with sound waves until it no longer was functional. Last week I had a third revision where they replaced knee components and removed scarring. In four days I was off the walker and cane. Within a week I was off opiates. In past surgeries I was on narcotics for 6-8 weeks and used a walker for over a month. I am blown away to say the least. I hope the SPRINT device becomes a standard of care for knee replacements. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kung. He had the slightest hint of arrogance or pandering. He was very forthright, answered my questions, but most importantly he had no problem saying 'I don't know'. Pretty hard words for a doctor to admit. I could easily sit down for a beer or a day on the slopes with him.
