Great Insight
Met Dr Starr at SIUH Northwell March 2023. He was able to hear me & said that since I had a long 13yr 8mos Wait & Watch period with CLL Leukemia that I would only need a low dose BTKI & he was so right. The full dose of Zanubrutinib has started a Lung issue & I can not get any help from the Oncologist or Pulmonologist. I wish he was nearby NY because I know things would be better. Florida you guys are lucky, he is one of the good guys so treat him well…

He is very thorough in explaining current status of cancer and recommended future observation or treatment. He does not rush the interview and makes you feel you are a long-time friend. I trust his advice.

It has been 10 years since I first met Dr. Starr. My sister was 32 years old and had been trying to figure out her random fevers and joint pain for 6 months until she landed at Mayo Clinic Emergency Room on May 6, 2013. We were told that if she lived through the night, she might live and her diagnosis was leukemia. We ended up seeing Dr. Starr off and on for months later while she went through chemotherapy, radiation, multiple biopsies, a bone marrow transplant which I was her donor, along with so many other treatments. Dr. Starr was there when we needed him as our physician during his residency, but also he was there emotionally for our family. His kindness and care for my sister will never be forgotten. She lived a full year after original diagnosis and I will be forever grateful for him putting his heart into his work while taking excellent care of my sister. Thank you, Dr. Starr, from Victoria Fellows, sister and family
