Unprofessional
Took 2 months to get an appointment and when we finally get there, the office was closed. We finally get ahold of someone and they say that they left a message canceling the appointment. No message was left and no answers.

I am now 32…and let me tell you straight up…as a child in and out of the hospital most of my childhood years no one could tell my parents what was wrong with me. Honestly, to this day my parents literally thought I wasn’t going to make it. Low and behold, Dr Akhter and his team in blue jumpsuits (yes, as a kid I remember this clear as day as I couldn’t even lift my head at age 7) ran into my room and transferred me to Dr Akhters care team. The longest ambulance ride of my life, literally….coughing all the way there. After being seen by doctor, he promised my parents under his care I would be home within two weeks. And he was right on with his care. No other breathing issues since then. However, he always told me even as an adult if I had issues, to always come see him! Oh! And don’t forget to be sure your kiddos bring a joke for him every visit!! ????He loves it! ???? THANK YOU Dr Akhter!!!! You are the best!!! Lori Demonbreun

What's the word I'm thinking of to describe Dr. Javeed Akhter. Oh yeah, it's genius. And caring, concerned, kind and wise. My son was 9 months old when hospitalized with an asthma attack. Dr. Akhter put him on a preventive maintenance plan. Never hospitalized again. Followed my son through college years. (My father had earlier passed away from an asthma attack). Now my younger son sees him for immunology issues.

My son had many excellent visits with Dr. Akhter over 18 years. He diagnosed his asthma at 11 months and ‘effectively’ utilized medicines to treat him when other doctors couldn’t/didn’t. As a young child, my son was often sick but did outgrow his asthma around age 11. He then became involved in swimming, football, and wrestling. I remember Dr Akhter saying that if my young boy had been born years earlier, he would have spent much of his life in a hospital with his poor lung function. My son is now 29, a personal trainer, and an outstanding athlete. Thank you Dr. Akhter for your expertise, encouragement, and help when he really needed it. Naperville, IL

Several years ago out daughter went thru all kinds of testing to try to find out why she would have attacks when practicing her gymnastics. Dr Akhter finally discovered she had activity induced asthma. Gave her an inhaler to take prior to gymnastics and helpful information....highly recommended

Terrible bed side manner, gets angry when you do not understand what he is talking about. Has little patience and is not a good listener. Needs to realize that not all patients fit in the same category. He feels he is above listen because of his status in his pulmonary community.

Told me my daughter was depressed and needs a psychiatrist and maybe I have already been taking her to one. This was after he joked around with her for a few minutes. I laughed and after a few more comments I said we are done here and walked out. She was already diagnosed with exercise induced asthma a year ago. I took her to another dr and they did a breathing test in their office which showed she had breathing issues and had an asthma attack. Glad I found a new doctor!!!!!

When my son was 13 his class assignment was to write an essay about his hero. He chose Dr. Akhter, because he truly believed that Dr. Akhter saved his life. Dr. Akhter certainly made my son's life much better by getting severe asthma under control.
