Dr. Jay Meyer, MD

I was seeing a psychologist, but needed a psychiatrist to manage and prescribe medications. I was in therapy for a history of being abused by my grandfather. Therapy was difficult enough, without Dr. Meyers judgements about my behavior and financial situation. He put me on Haldol. A few weeks later, I stopped to get gas at a busy intersection. The gas cap rolled out into the street. I stood there looking at the gas cap. Wondering if I could pick it up and make it back without getting hit by a car. Or should I pick it up and run to the median. Standing trying to make that decision made one thing clear. I was in a fog. I stopped the Haldol. As each day went by, I realized more and more how completely it had put me in a depressed foggy state. I did not have then nor now a psychosis. Still don’t understand the need for the Haldol. Never went back to see Dr. Meyer.
