Success!
Dr. Anhalt was recommended to me by two different reliable sources. One, a doctor friend of mine and the other was by a surgical technician who works with many surgeons in my area. The complete process was smooth...appointments, follow-up calls, scheduling and communication. Dr. Anhalt effortlessly explained my options, the different success rates and clearly answered all of my questions. I felt fully informed and confident in scheduling my surgery. I'm only 2 days post-op right now. However, I definitely feel as though I choose the best surgeon for me.

Nope......
He misdiagnosed our son who rolled his ankle playing JV Baseball. Got a referral to an orthopedic in GR who did stellar reconstructive work on him. I rolled my ankle in early 2023, he was the attending, took me to surgery the next day, fixed some, but had to wait for healing 21 days at Mercy. After six months of dragging my leg around with pain, went to the same orthopedic that worked on our son. He wanted to fuse the ankle, a one plus hour procedure, who basically said he can't figure out what Anhalt did. Worked on me three hours to fix his mess. I didn't have a choice for immediate care when it happened, if I could have gone to GR, I would have. Muskegon is held hostage for Mercy's application to MDPH for all area hospital beds. That's why Spectrum isn't building anything here. Second surgery from GR in late Dec. Almost feels normal. Walking with only minor pain. The GR MD said he couldn't see how I was walking. Anhalt said he would fuse my ankle ' when you can't stand the pain'...

Broken elbow and shattered wrist
Had 2 surgeries with Dr. Anhalt in 4 months due to a severely broken arm and wrist. Dr. Anhalt and his team were amazing with both the surgeries and office visits. They are great communicators and throughout spent whatever time needed to answers questions. And of course most importantly Dr Anhalt was able to skillfully repair the major damage to my bones and I am recovering very well! Grateful to have access to talented surgeons like him!

Previous patient, back again
Dr. Anhalt listens to my questions and concerns explaining procedures and what could happen. A great sense of humor too that makes him approachable. He very successfully did my ankle and now I am in need of him and his expertise on other foot issues. I look forward to having him do this.

He was very gentle handing my broken toe. He has a good sense of humor. Which makes a painful situation more tolerable. He took the time to answer questions even though he was running behind schedule.

2nd visit with Dr. ANHALT
I like him, in 2018, he didn't do surgery on my broken foot. It has healed fine without issue. Now, in 2022, I'm having him look at the other foot.

Very talented!
I have been a patient of Dr Anhalt for a long time. And the reason for that, is because no matter what, the man does not give up. He will go to great lengths to make sure you get the best treatment humanly possible. He cares what happens to every single one of his patients! I know he is the best doctor you can find in West Michigan, and even further. This doctor is very gifted, creative, talented and professional. Lastly, his staff loves him. And they are pretty terrific too! He is the real deal! Thank you for reading my review. I hope you consider him. I am very happy with his communication as well. Please ask questions if interested and I will reply . Thank you!

I broke my foot running several years ago and Dr. Anhalt did an amazing job! When I needed bunion surgery he was my first choice. Big mistake! Bunion surgery doesn't appear to be his thing! After the first failed surgery I let him try to fix it! Another big misrtake! The bunion is better but my toe still goes south! He assured me the other foot wouldn't do that! Shame on me for allowing him to practice a third time! Very disappointed! And want to save others from going through a very painful and long recovery for minimal results! Not to mention a huge expense!p

Honestly Im surprised he's still able to "practice medicine" because he's not too good at it. Went screw happy, had to get a tib/fib reduction and he put a plate on my fibula and put a screw diagonally right threw the middle of the break and the screw pushed my fibula apart. Woke up from surgery and my leg was broken was than it was before. On top of that i got a really bad infection. Put me on the lowest dose of antibiotic. Ended up having to get it redone not suprisinly. 4 surgeries to fixit

HUGE REGRET!!. Had surgery Feb 2,2016 left foot, due to arthritis. I have permanent nerve damage confirmed by Neurologist doing nerve response test and another Orthopedic surgeon. Anhalt offered tarsal tunnel surgery - Neurologist & Surgeon said NO Pain ball following surgery - failed & pain was excruciating. Foot dressing following surgery wrapped so tight caused compression wound thus permanent scarring remains. Staff Infection-3 rounds of antibiotic. Poor response returning calls -NO!!

I broke my ankle and leg and needed surgery to repair. Dr. Anhalt and his staff were just awesome! They explained everything, were so kind and really helped make the experience not so bad. Dr. Anhalt took time to make arrangements for my pain due to my allergy to narcotic pain meds. The nerve block he ordered worked great and I was in very little pain at all after surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Anhalt to everyone.

My mother was involved in a serious auto accident and Dr. Anhalt was called to take care of her multiple fractures. He was very kind, considerate, and compassionate toward not only my mother, but to us as her family. He took the time to pray with us, which meant so much to us, to know that God was working through his hands to help my mother. What more could we ask for?

He was full of kindness, assurance, and confidence but also BS. The surgery he confidently recommended had flaws he never shared with me; after the procedure to fix hallux limitus with grinding spurs and such and sewing a lubricating glove cartilage replacement to the rear bone the glove DISSOLVED leaving me with permanent bone-to-bone friction pain as b4 surgery coupled with additional neuropathy pain and numbness from the surgery!!! I CANNOT get a full night's sleep due to pain w/o drugs.
