Knows his stuff and is a nice man.
Though Dr. B. is busy and books out a ways, he’s brilliant. He doesn’t take insurance but is super efficient and does this thing on making shared goals with real timelines to hit. He gives homework between sessions which is helpful.

Possibly best in northeast
I have had depression for many years and it never gets better. My previous doctors gave me every antidepressant in the book. Dr. B. took me off everything, took a detailed history, and started me on mood stabilizers. I’ve never felt so stable! No depression, no weird acting out behavior (yes, I could be a “bad girl” when manic) and now I feel and people say that I’m finally normal. I don’t know why it took so long to find Dr Barkin, but my husband, family, friends, and me are so happy I’m better and owe it to Dr. B. I think he’s probably the best at what he does in the entire northeast region and from speaking with others this seems to be the word on the street.

Rock star doctor/legal psychiatrist
So, I am NOT a patient of Dr. Barkin. Rather, I’m the spouse of a person Dr. Barkin assessed as part of a legal case. He cut straight to the chase, no nonsense, and worked with our lawyer to get a settlement that really couldn’t be beat. Dr. Jeff worked with our lawyer, my family, my friends, and made sure we were honestly compensated. He is a mensch and inspires great confidence. He will not make promises but don’t let that discourage you; as my lawyer says he doesn’t lose legal cases. My lawyer calls him “my lethal weapon” and that would be very correct.

Excellent diagnostic mind.
I was referred to Dr. Barkin and it did take time before his schedule could fit me in. Well worth the wait. Thorough like I’ve never experienced.
