Kind but...
EMS brought my husband to WakeMed ER because he was UNABLE TO WALK due to pain from a fall. Dr. Cook had X-ray taken, said he was ok and sent him home still in pain and unable to walk. He was kind, but it concerned me he was so quick to make this call. I mentioned to the nurse about husband's condition but she said Dr. Cook was dismissing him because he couldn't find anything wrong with him. Don't understand why would you send a patient home the same exact way they came in via EMT. What does that say and why would a doctor do this? Husband had to be brought back and another Physician found a break in his back!

Thank you
Dr Cook was wonderful at my recent ER visit. He was compassionate and listened to every concern or rambling I had. We both had a theory of what was going on, but he uncovered every stone just to make sure we didn’t miss anything. I am so appreciative. PS give Latoya a hug for me. She was so wonderful too.

Awful Experience
I had the worst ER experince with Dr Cook yesterday. He had zero concern he didn’t run ANY kind of tests. Simply made a diagnosis off look and feel and sent me on my way he didn’t listen to any of my concerns. He had the worst alpha male dominant bedside manner. I will not be going back or recommending Duke hospital. It takes one bad apple to ruin it. Needless to say I went with my mom to her cardiologist today. He took one look at my arm and sent me right over to the ER at Rex. They did blood work, ultrasound with Doppler and I am seeing a vascular surgeon tomorrow morning. They pushed Eliquis DVP. If I had listened to this Dr I’m not sure what the outcome would have been. Definitely not good. I hope you read this Dr Cook.

Non Caring ER Dr Cook – Dec 12, 2023

Checking the boxes
Dr. Cook jumped to a diagnosis with my complex case. This assumption has painted follow-up visits with other specialists because of his original diagnosis, which was incorrect thus wasting precious time for me. I suffered in pain and agony for months until I finally found a specialist who would listen and discovered the cause of my illness. The new diagnosis is exactly what I told him it was when I was in the ER. He and his staff are very busy and he just checked me off as done and sent me on my way. Dr. Cook tried to intimidate me in the ER, leaning over the bed railing and telling me, "You're not sick! Go home!" This is what healthcare has become unfortunately.
