Terrible experience when I needed the most.
Terrible care team and no empathy when I most needed.

The Best!
I had just one visit with Dr. Halaas but I couldn't have asked for a better experience. He came highly recommended and was attentive and caring. Answered every question and concern. Though he would ultimately not be part of my care team he set everything in motion for it. My cancer, Mantle cell lymphoma, is rare and needed to be handled at Sloan-Kettering by a colleague of his. If it were not for Dr. Halaas I would not be at MSK and part of a clinical trial that is giving me a brighter future.

Dr. Jeffrey Halaas, Oncologist
Dr. Halaas, was very knowledgeable and caring regarding my recent leukemia diagnosis. With each visit I had with him, he took time explaining my diagnosis and answering all my questions. When he indicated to me that my AML was out of his realm he was kind enough to contact colleagues at Sloane Kettering that he felt would be more appropriate to treat my leukemia. He was able to get me an immediate appointment and was responsible for putting me with a wonderful care team at Sloane. I would highly recommend this oncologist

Run to another oncologist
Dr Halas’s is smart, informed and has a solid background. Unfortunately, he lacks all empathy, compassion and frankly ethics and honesty. I would advise folks in need of care to go elsewhere. On top of that, CareMount is a horrible bureaucratic mess whose only interest is getting their bills paid. Run away.

Some people just should not be doctors, especially oncologists. Dr. Halaas is is a text book informed doctor with little to no emotion. Maybe he has lost patience and compassion over the years but I doubt it. Not sure how he sleeps at night.

He is prompt and professional; very smart and conventional. His examinations of lymph nodes are painless and thorough. He has shown little to no curiosity regarding complimentary protocols that have improved my health even when he has told me that there is no treatment for CLL leukemia. For example, my white blood cell count is down 25% in last year. Hemoglobin is back to normal. He remains ignorant and uninformed.

Very disappointed in my experience with Dr. Halaas. I presented w/blood abnormalities several years ago that, in my opinion, weren't taken seriously. These abnormalities persisted & when a bone marrow biopsy failed to produce a clear diagnosis, he didn't offer any follow-up or referrals. It was simply a dead end. Several months after the biopsy, a different doctor correctly diagnosed me as having a longstanding infection that required immediate surgery in order to prevent sepsis & possible death

This doctor misdiagnosed my father-in-law. As a result, he came down with congestive heart failure and kidney problems. He also needed 4 blood transfusions. He is now at a different doctor and thriving.
