Just doesn’t care
Dr Mann has the bedside manner of a mushroom. Positively useless. I’m not sure even if I listed all my VERY unique symptoms, if he would remember me. He was good at… referring me for a very painful test and then not bother to give me results. When I called and made my own follow up, he still gave me no answers to what test said… but did refer me to another Dr who was going to need their own tests. At the end of that appt I said, so… “what should I do next?” His response “just do what you do”. WT!!! So what was the point of any of this? In my opinion this Dr has no value.

ankle surgery
he's the ankle whispere in my opinion. I needed to do work on my ankles that no one else in the Bay Area felt comfortable doing. Not Stanford, not anywhere would anyone touch it. Dr. Mann did and he did a woderful job. It's true that he's not the best bedside manner. But I did see him smile twice. Once just before I went under and he was ready to do his work. The other time was after he finished and we both knew that he had done magical work. I would trust him for anything ankle related. He saved me from ankle fusion and ankle replacment.

Doctor showed little interest in my problem.
Dr. Mann provided me with little assistance. Aside from having few people skills, he barely acknowledged my presence. He asked me very few questions. I kept asking questions and providing information so that he would have a better understanding of my feet challenges. After prodding him, he sent in his assisant to give me an ankle support. No follow up appointment or considerations for the healing process. Poor "bedside manner." I would not return to him.

Dr. Mann is a highly skilled surgeon and fantastic doctor. I’d recommend him to anyone. I was referred to him by another physician I deeply trust and was not disappointed. He corrected a toe issue (after operating) that no other doctor I’d seen had been able to fix.

Dr Mann was fantastic. 5 years ago I went in to get my crooked leg straightened. I had gone to other doctors who thought leg straightening was too late to be useful and the wear on my joints would only be remedied by fusing my ankle and knee replacement. Dr mann thought I could get 5 years from the straightening and he was right. The surgery involved fully cutting both the tibia and fibula. The surgical work was fantastic, almost no scar. He has an excellent team and very efficient. The only criticism I have is that I was sent home the same day while I was quite woosey and that was wierd and hard on my caretakers.

After extensive research (online, referrals) took my 82 yr old mother to see Dr Mann knowing she needed a full ankle replacement. Knew we found the right doctor immediately. Dr Mann was very factual, compassionate. He performed surgery very quickly after 1s appt and it went very smoothly. We followed all his directions on recovery, pain management, PT, etc. Dr Mann's staff were competent, informative, responsive, flexible, kind throughout the many weeks pre-post surgery. Highly recommend.

Dr. Mann came highly recommended as the expert in foot related problems. My son broke the talus bone, and saw Dr. Mann a few days after the ER. His office was well run and pleasant. Dr. Mann was thorough and explained everything. The ER doctor said it might require surgery, which is why I wanted a foot expert! I am confused by reviews that found Dr. Mann unfriendly or whatever. He's a doctor, and expert in his field, not your friend. Maybe it's my NYC state of mind. Talent over feelings.
