Cataract Surgeon
I was extremely pleased woth the outcome of my cataract surgery. Dr Oberman is a brilliant eye Doctor and Surgeon. I had a lot of anxiety beforehand. He knew exactly which intra ocular lens would suit my eyes, despite my asking for other options. I am so happy I chose him as my surgeon. He follows up and was available on the weekend if I needed him.

5 Star for an overall excellent experience
I want to express my thanks both to Dr. Oberman, the office personal and the surgical unit staff for an excellent job and a prefect experience with my cataract surgery. Who wouldn't be squeamish ... but everyone was very supportive, positive and reassuring through out the entire process and in the end - like they all said - this is an easy one and they were right. Thank you all for a job well done.

Dr. Oberman and his staff at ReFocus Eye Care in Westport are outstanding. I have been a patient of Dr. Oberman since he opened his practice. He is an excellent doctor and his assistant, Jodie, is great as well. He has dedicated office personnel who have been with him for many, many years. If you need an eye doctor I would highly recommend his practice.

Exceptional knowledge, experience and a terrific result for me. I had two cataracts compounded by Lasik surgery 20+ years ago and astigmatisms in both eyes. One eye had been corrected for reading and the other for distance. This usually adds up to a not-so-perfect result. However, Dr. Oberman chose the perfect/new lens for my situation and my vision in both eyes is now 20/25. He explained everything perfectly and I never felt rushed to make a decision. His staff is friendly and very efficient. The Norwalk Center for Surgery was also excellent in all regards. I cannot recommend him highly enough. A+ all around.

Dr. Oberman is an outstanding professional ! Dr. Oberman performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. His professional approach in explaining my examination results and providing an explanation of alternative treatment approaches was excellent. The surgery was successful, and today my vision is perfect. I strongly recommend that Dr. Oberman's services be used by anyone needing Ophthalmology services.

I visited Dr Oberman when I lost sight in my left eye. The experience was terrifying. Dr Oberman supported me despite my severe anxiety and eye phobia. I was treated with respect, kindness and dignity, Dr Oberman offered me treatment options that aligned with my finances. After my left eye surgery, my right vision was declining, Dr Oberman operated my right eye as well. The office is clean and welcoming. My sight is now fully restored. I went from blind to seeing and I am so grateful.

Dr. Oberman took the difficult job that it seems staffers could have done: He came to the lobby to tell me that because of an answer I gave to the Covid-related questionnaire I would not be allowed in for my scheduled visit and would have to reschedule. He was the utmost professional. It was uncomfortable but I respected not only adhering to the strict protocols but Dr. Oberman coming out and talking to me personally and directly. When I rescheduled and had my appointment then I got to see his excellent ophthalmology.

Dr. Oberman performed cataract surgery and lens implants on both of my eyes with excellent results. He is a very experienced and technically competent doctor. He relayed little information 'up front' during my pre- and post-op visits; he seemed to prefer me asking specific questions, which he answered. Whereas other physicians I see have electronic records, Dr. Oberman's office does not. The main drawback: His office staff were frustrating to deal with. My surname was spelled wrong (a completely different name!) on several pre-op forms I was asked to sign, and staff refused to send itemized invoices and did not ask for payment during my office visits. Instead, they would call and tell me I hadn't paid for services and the lens implants, and ask for my credit card information over the phone. Given my job, I understand benefits, and payment was not a problem. With no on-line access, I needed to rely on hard copy invoices, which were not provided.

I have been a patient of Dr. Oberman’s since the 90’s. Having Dr. Oberman as part of my extensive medical team reassures me that I am receiving the absolute best care possible. Dr. Oberman is compassionate, straight forward and I am grateful for everything he does in caring for my eyes. I have complete trust and confidence in him. I am equally grateful for his staff and the level of care they provide me as well. He recently performed complex surgery on my eye in which we really were unsure of what the outcome was going to be. I am VERY pleased to say I give Dr. O (and the surgical staff for rooting for me) 7 stars for a perfect outcome for an eye that will always keep us both on our toes. Simply put, he is the best.

Dr. Oberman removed cataracts in both eyes. He was thorough in his examination, clear and patient with his explanation of the options that were indicated to remedy them, sympathetic and reassuring about what he would be doing in the surgery, and after two separate operations that went exactly as he described, and a daily eye drop regimen, I am officially 20:20 in both eyes and even able to read portions of the 20:15 eye chart line. I should also comment for those who might be equivocating, the world is so sharp and colorful now, more so than I have of any adult memory. After many decades of relying on eyeglasses and contacts, except for reading, I am now free to see the world without lenses boring into the bridge of my nose. I couldn't be happier.

The office is run more like a factory than a medical practice. Dr. Oberman gives you the absolute bare minimum of medical information, to the point of withholding relevant medical information from the patient. It's a place where they are in it for the money, that is 100% apparent. And they are not forthright about billing matters, they are dishonest about cost and billing issues, and they back each other up with bullying of the patient. If you think the doctor will handle the eyeglass prescribing process, which is appropriate for an Opthamology practice - don't make that mistake. Dr. Oberman farms that out to technicians.

Dr. Oberman is an excellent doctor. I have a special needs son who is now 38 years old. Dr. Oberman recently removed a cataract from his right eye. Considering my son has issues with his eye from other illnesses, Dr Oberman achieved perfect vision. In addition, he and his staff were very patient and understanding in dealing with my son. I would certainly recommend him to my family and friends.
