She listens. She cares

She was an excellent caring doctor who I have been seeing for many years. It upsets me so much because I cannot find out where she went or if she is okay.

I’ve been Dr. May’s patient for a long time - since she was with Beacon Hill Family Practice, then we followed her to Atlantic Health, and finally to Summit Health. She’s also cared for my husband at times and has been my three kids’ doctor from birth. She is exceptional. There’s no other way to put it. Wonderful bedside manner, listens carefully (even if you talk a lot like me), never rushes you, has us try alternative strategies before medicine, researches when needed, has amazing specialist recommendations. Over the years she has gone above and beyond for my family over and over again. For 15 years, she’s been my favorite care provider. She treats you like her family with her manner.I’m not sure what’s going on, or why she’s suddenly off the radar, but I do know that if she was able, Dr. May would still be practicing. Whenever she decides to return, I’ll be back to be her patient again. She is THAT good.

My wife and I have been seeing Dr. May-Ortiz as our primary physician for about 15 years. She is knowledgeable and caring. We appreciate the personal touch that comes from her knowing us well, both as individuals and as a couple. I like her as a person and as a physician.

About a year and half ago, I had an initial appointment when I chose Dr. May-Ortiz as my primary doc. She was really attentive, informative, and supportive. Fantastic. Since then, the wheels have fallen off. Dr. May-Ortiz has been a no-show at EVERY subsequent 6-mos, physical check-in. I arrived for a schedule appt last summer only to be told by the receptionist that Dr. May-Ortiz called out sick that day. No notice. No call. No text. No nothing. Was able to get a Tele-health call to discuss my medication. Rescheduled for a new appointment – 6 more months out. The morning of that re-scheduled appointment, I received a text that once again, Dr. May called out sick! Sent a message through the patient portal requesting to speak with the doctor. No response. Had to re-re-schedule again – new appointment is 6 months away! Luckily, I’m not sick because it’s near impossible to actually see Dr. May-Ortiz.

While she seems like a great doctor at a well visit, she completely dropped the ball when needing urgent/emergent care as a follow up from an emergency room visit. Multiple calls and messages were completely ignored leaving me to fend for myself to find other care. I would not recommended this doctor or practice, unless you want to be ignored when you need care the most.

Dr. May has been extremely supportive of me as I have developed various health issues in the last few years. She was also very compassionate when I sought her counsel after both my mother and dear sister passed within months of each other. She responds quickly to messages in the portal and will make time to see you when needed. I strongly recommend her for her sensitivity, knowledge and expertise in dealing with all aspects of family medicine.

I've been doing to Dr. May for years (as has my family). She's always been kind, straightforward, and very approachable. Lucky to have her as a physician.
