Dropped the ball
I visited Dr. Coleman for a first-time visit and checkup, having had some pain in my legs. He ordered bloodwork, which I did at the Wildlight hospital. I saw my test results and there are 4 values flagged as "not in normal range". After a week, and no call back to explain, I wrote him on Mychart asking for a call. I received a message from someone else that he had not review my results yet. Then I called after a month and sent another Mychart message to him; again no response other than "provider has not yet reviewed your results". WHAT? 5 weeks after the test? When I went back to my primary care dr. in Chicago I had the same round of bloodwork which turned up the flagged items (I received a call right away, as usual and as it should be) and he referred me to a hematologist only to find out I have a blood cancer. I called the UF hospital to complain. He did not take any responsibility for not calling me back and said I should have made another appointment. DON'T GO.

Dr Coleman is by far the best physician I have been to in my adult life. I went to him once and after that visit referred everyone I knew that needed a family doctor. My wife, two children, aunt and grandmother are now under his care. He is patient, knowledgeable and has great bedside manner. At first I thought the wait time to see him was a little long. I then discovered why. He doesn’t rush you. If you have concerns or questions, he gets to all of them. My grandmother can talk, but you never get the sense that he is rushing you or cutting you off or not engaged. He actively listens for you to tell him what your body is saying. The extra wait time is worth it because I know he is giving the same attention to someone else who needs it. I think this is one of his best qualities. That is why I trust him with my entire family’s care.

By far the worse Dr. I ever experienced. I went to him thinking being an African American he would understand the disproportioned care we've historically received and would want to make a difference. I was wrong! I was disappointed. His approach is definitely hands off and diagnoses often wrong. Communication is noneffective and does not set a high standards with his nursing staff. I found them to me horrible communicators, unprofessional and often times rude. He seems to be so removed from quality of care and raising the bar for his staff.
